I downloaded the file and clicked on it from KDE. The debian package manager started uninstalling packages, it started with the bytecoinwallet, which is how I was able to catch it.

    I did a sudo apt-get -f install
then I did sudo apt-get update
    then sudo apt-get upgrade.
After rebooting I found out the the x server was missing.
I then installed the xorg server, and now the computer is running again.

Why it started rolling back packages and uninstalling I do not know.

I was still able to get unity 5 beta to work.
I extracted the debian package ar x unity-editor-5.1.0f3+2015082501_amd64.deb.
    Then extracted the data archive,
    created the directory ~/.local/unity3d/Unity
following the error messages from the Unity executable found in the folder opt, I was able to get Unity Editor to startup and run. I have not tested it yet.
