What if we want to show you the chest opened and not opened ?
Should I post 2 models different, or maybe just an image for the chest not opened ?
    Thanks for reply ;)

    Update time!

I've been working hard, just had my head in the sand. :) Here is the final model fully unwrapped and packed. I have applied a low quality AO bake to it for now as my machine is slugging along to render out the high quality pass. What do you guys think?

    https://skfb.ly/DI8S

Here is the low quality map by itself:

EDIT: Sorry, I can't seem to get the embed to work properly. Any ideas?

So I managed to spend some time on the high poly model for my alien pod, but no updates to the rest of the diorama yet. Hoping to end up with lots of random techy gunf. I want it to look like it was originally plugged into stuff in the ship it came from so need lots of connection points and whatnot. The rest of the scene is quite clean so hopefully won't have a whole lot more to do after this is finished :S

Thanks! so here is the modelisations for the diorama.

Now I'm thinking if I hand paint the textures in Photoshop or if I try to use Substance painter (aquierd on steam last crhistmas for only 49€ ^^)

Feedback and critics are welcome of course.

Hows it going guys. I'm throwing my hat in! I'm seeing a lot of good stuff, hope mine will stack up. I'm going for something subtle. Box of memories, wonderful little moments. Here's the first WIP.

Decided to scrap the prospector character for time and poly constraints. So here's my true WIP of stuff that will actually be in the final product haha.

It's not realy complicated to use it, realy easy to have some great result quickly. and for detailling the shader it's one of my favorite tool ;)

Speaking of Substance Designer / Painter if anyone is interested I am about to start streaming my painting process live. Come check it out and feel free to ask any questions. I'd be glad to help anyone who wants to learn!

@UnitLayer Looks kosher to me, but I would probably change the camera view so that it's much closer.

    Just finished my Toy Chest.
I had to modify a little the original concept. At first I was going with the idea of "body chest" but felt like it was not going to work. So instead I kept the lower part and added the toys.

The model is around 1.4k vertices.
All texturing and baking was done in Substance Designer.
It uses 2 texture sets, one for the box and another for the toys. Both are x2048px.
I ended up with nearly 2GB of source files. Hehe.

Keep up the good work everyone, there are some great entries so far!

@biowinter : Looks really good! I would recommend adding a "fade to black" type plane on the inside of the chest as from certain angles you can see the bottoms of the tentacle for example and it breaks the illusion a bit. Cheers~

    Hi all,

I think I'm a bit late for this one... But I liked very much this theme! I will do it for fun. Nothing special for the scene, it will be a abandoned house with a forgotten treasure in the basement or pantry, whatever that is.

Who could be able to forget something like that? Maybe someone will come back someday to get his things... We will never know.

@UnitLayer As long as you tagged your entry with "UCAC8" you're good.

To everyone: Please tag your final entry with UCAC8 - If done right you should show up on this page: https://sketchfab.com/models?q=UCAC8

This is important, otherwise your entry won't quality :)

Keep it coming guys! Very awesome entries here!

    Hello guys,

Just more wips. Probably my next post will be the final entry. I hope everyone like it.

Just to clarify, I have many items if you look in my store. This is not the same items that I used here in this scene, is just the same style, everything here is new, model and texture.

    Enjoy your sunday! :)

here is what I have so far .. Indiana Jones style ;) Everything in the render is normal mapped already. The cherubim will be next and the people holding hands on the rim. Im gonna try do Indiana's hat and whip and place it in the scene somewhere as well.

*claps hands* Alright, coming down to the wire. Here's another WIP for you all, geometry is next to finished. I only need to Advanced Paint in some opacity grass. That dirt texture is a place holder as well. Grass will get more texture space. Textures on the way!

First sketchfab test , I sculpted the cherubim and added the people as mentioned. I went for a top down dynamic light in sketchfab and the environment lighting quite low , I want to have a roof of stones with a gap where light is coming in .. maybe try fudge some god rays in sketchfab as well.

The link has been updated with the newest paint. Very happy with how the compass turned out in particular.

Parts still in work are: coins, coin piles, map, fish, seaweed, and rocks.

    What do you think?

    Thanks very much!

@ Mentallic3D Wow, I love it! This is really great :)

I'm still working on the 3d Model itself. I hope to be able to post something tonight :)

ETA: Well, here's a WIP 3d Model and a Sketch I made in Photoshop that's hopefully better than the scan I made :)

It's a first time with many things:
    • 3D Art
    • Blender
    • First art for my future game
I hope I'll be able to complete it before the deadline :)

    Better sketch: DetailedSketch.png

    Thanks for looking!
