Unity 5.5 build in VR crash

    Hi there,

    I'm facing a crash regarding Unity 5.5, when I'm trying to run a build, I'm running in VR with HTC Vive.

    It loads for a while, white screen, and after few seconds, it crash.

    @BenouKat So I tinkered with my scene I was trying to build in 5.5 and dug through all scene objects. It turned out to be one GameObject with a particle system. I deleted it and I've been stable since. I would start there where you delete all particle systems and see if it builds then. If yes then start to dig to find the culprit or culprits. I know it's tedious but it was worth the dig.

    Hmmm, no, I have a lot of particle system in my project, and I prefer to wait for a fix from Unity.

    We rolled back to 5.4 until it's fixed.

    I'm experiencing a similar issue.. Vive VR based usage.. only ever seen it on full builds (not development) - this has happened since I started using Unity (about v5.1)

    This occurs (very randomly, and rarely) when a user picks up a special object which kills lots of NPC's (though a "burning" process) but I managed to get a video of it whilst doing a demo reel... Hence I could pinpoint some timings..

    I do spawn a lot of particles when the burn is activated (none have any physics collisions, etc.) but they appear to be "OK" and spawn.. the crash happens 2 seconds after the pick-up which is the minimum time any NPC will burn for, after that they are ragdolled (before fading into the earth)

    In terms of physics, the most I do at this stage is...

    You should really create your own thread for your issue. But you probably didn't install the standard assets when you installed unity. You can download and install them separately

    I can confirm this is definitely related to particle systems, possibly legacy particle systems, in Unity 5.5. VR does not have anything to do with it, as my game has been crashing and it's not VR enabled. I found the "physx::shdfnd::Foundation::getErrorMutex" in my output log's stack trace and after searching the error found this thread.

    I am only running a few particle systems in my 2.5D space game currently and after finding this thread I disabled a set of legacy particle systems I had enabled on my enemy ship. Since then I have had no crashes. It's a legacy particle system that I grabbed from Unity 4's default particles when I started building my game, so that just might be the issue right there.
