They're pretty tricky. If you haven't done something on more of a Flappy Bird or Doodle Jump level, certainly do that first.

Then, a realistic racing game from scratch is much harder than it appears. You will probably want to use a kit, like this one (or there are many others to choose from).

My suggestion is, find some nice cars, any car.
It can be an ordinary one, or a super fancy sports car.
And with the help of a trusted relative/friend etc, take your time driving them and test them out.:D

If you have a friend/relative with a porsche, bugatti, or any nice car, take it for a test drive and let him/her accompany you. Get a feel of how the car handles and controls.

Doing that, will help you understand cars better. And give you an idea, on how to go ahead, making your realistic racing game. And that knowledge and experience, will also put you ahead, of most of the indie game developers here on this forum and on other game dev forums too.:p

Don't forget to check out, Joe Strouts post and link.

And if you're taking my test drive car advice, remember:
    Don't drive too fast. :D

    Good luck.:)

If you've already made lots of games, you should have some idea how to implement race mechanics.

I am 14 years old and now making a racing game. I suggest importing a track (you can find one in unity asset store) and import the unity vehicles package. Then you can add constantly new features and make your game better and better.

(Sorry for my mistakes but I am from greece and don't speak English very well)

    Nonsense.

Depending on your jurisdiction, its entirely possible you are allowed to drive on private land. I learned to drive via a tractor in a farm paddock, well before the legal age to drive on the road.

If that doesn't work, virtually every major city has a go cart track somewhere. Some of these are actually well calibrated to drive like racing cars. But even if they aren't, you'll still get a good feel for the reality of driving.
