    Hello !

I'm trying to record a game session of my build with OBS.
I can't figure why, I have a black screen when I choose "Beautiful" or "Fantastic"

Does anybody now which option of Quality setting is making this black screen ?

does your computer use two graphics cards? the way obs is set up it can only handle stuff happening on one graphics card at a time. I had a similar problem when i first started using obs

Hi, I am having the same problem and I can confirm that this is happening on multiple PCs/laptops, regardless of the number of gpus. I would LOVE to have some insight into this issue.

So, found a workaround (I think.) Warning, some of this might be straight up superstition but it was slightly more preferable than having to record in less than 'Fantastic' quality (Windows 7, fullscreen 'Game Capture'):

-Make build of project with AA disabled on desired recorded quality, IE, go to File -> Quality Settings -> Click Fantastic -> Set Anti-Aliasing to None, then build project. It does, in fact, seem like AA needs to be disabled, at least on my particular GPU.
-Start up OBS, have Game Capture ready, make sure red bounding rectangle appears, black screen should be present.
-Run game in default "Good" quality, don't ALT + TAB out until the game has loaded
-After game loads, ALT + TAB. You should see recording preview inside of OBS of your game.
-Open game again, ALT + F4/kill it.
-OBS should show black screen. Launch game again, this time in "Fantastic"/desired quality.
-Again, don't ALT + TAB out until loaded and Unity splash screen is gone.
-After loaded, ALT + TAB. OBS should be recording under fantastic quality.

I can't verify every single step is necessary but this is what worked for me, but I can say that the quality definitely is different from good to fantastic. I hope this helps someone!

Does OBS offer some advantage over alternatives such as QuickTime?

I’ve been using QuickTime and found it adequate.

    Thanks.

I have never tried QuickTime. My main interest in it was being able to natively export mp4 files. It seems to take very good recordings now that I have it not recording a black screen all the time (grr)
