    Any update on this? How's beta testing going? My current project is using Unity 3.4.2 iOS Pro. will your system support that?

    Thanks,

    Hi all,
    Yeah, testing seems to be going well. I'll be contacting the beta testers in the next day or so and see if they all agree it's fit for release.

    Hey Everybody,
    The beta testing is now over. I'll be packaging the release build in the next few days and launching the plugin. Thanks for everyone's patience.

    I have also told the beta testers they are free to post whatever comments, good or bad, they have about the plugin. So they may be able to offer some advice or reviews if they so choose.

    Cheers,
    Brett

    @gunga

    Yes, at the moment it requires Unity Pro because it's a native plugin

    @gregmax17, @Darkness

    Plugin will be initially priced less than $100.

    @Tinus

    Thanks!

    @pneill

    The update is that the plugin is done and ready to go. I just need to get the landing page up and some way to actually buy this thing. I'm traveling again this week but will endeavor to do so while on the road. I'm sorry for the delays, but wanted to be sure it worked as advertised.

    Cheers,
    Brett

    Alright, confession time. I want to be as transparent as possible, I'm very, very, very sorry for the delays.

    I got hired by Unity and started work on May 1st and I have been so ridiculously busy since then it has been hard to squeeze out the time to launch Cruncher. My job is Unity evangelist for Southeast Asia and I travel nearly constantly around 7 countries. I give seminars, meet and help studios with their Unity projects, organize and run game jams, and answer a lot of email about how to do stuff in Unity (and it's awesome to meet so many amazing developers!).

    This isn't an excuse at all. People are depending upon this plugin and so it's up to me to make this happen and I have let some people down.

    The product is done, ready to launch. I simply got to get my landing page done so that FastSpring will approve my merchant account and then we're good to go. I'm trying to get that done today/tonight/tomorrow morning. I'm speaking at ChinaJoy as well as a Vietnam game conference later this week and I'm finishing those up today, then on to my landing page.

    Cheers,
    Brett

    You have a sale from me when it's ready. But just curious - couldn't you put it on the asset store here?

    Thanks Jaimi!

    I can't put it on the asset store because it uses a licensed technology that requires a license key and the asset store doesn't allow plugins that require a license key. So I have to setup my own payment and licensing solution.

    Cheers,
    Brett

    Why does it require this key? I would assume that the asset store sale equals a licence?

    This plugin uses licensed 3rd party technology, and the agreement requires that it is separately licensed. Simple as that. Sorry, wish I was able to sell it on the asset store, would have been released already.

    Cheers,

    Thanks for the update Brett. You've got a purchase from me when it's released.

    Congrats on being hired by Unity. Sounds like a cool, if not a bit mental, job!

    Hi All,
    I have some great news: After discussing further with the awesome licensor of the Balancer technology, we will be offering the plugin for sale on the Unity Asset Store!

    The only downside is that I need to prepare and submit the plugin and wait for approval, but I believe this is a big win for everybody. I'll keep everyone posted on the progress.

    Cheers,
    Brett

    Hi all,
    ChinaJoy is now over and I'm caught up with my day job. Stripping the security out and making a new build, getting setup at the asset store. Hope to have another update this weekend.

    I second this. I was tempted to just buy the Balancer tool directly, but the Unity integration seems just too good to be true.

    Hi guys,
    The plugin uses a DLL that currently needs to be present in the project root directory. The asset store gives you packages that integrate to your assets folder. I'm working on a fix to have the dependency for the DLL to be in the root directory removed, hence the delay in getting this submitted. I'm hoping to have this resolved tomorrow, and then I just need to prepare the screenshots, etc. for the asset store submission.

    Thanks for your patience! Almost there...

    Cheers,
    Brett

    Hi all!
    An update of sorts. Trying to figure out the best way to deploy the BalancerSDK.dll on Windows. It needs to be present in the project's root directory, but importing packages from the asset store doesn't let you put stuff there.

    So, my plan is when my plugin gets called for the first time, I can check if the DLL is in the root directory, and if not, copy it there automatically. It's not the cleanest solution ever, but it will work.

    For the record I tried modifying the PATH variable on Windows to point to the PLugins directory inside the project but for some reason it still can't be found. Rather than delay this any more, I'll go with the copy solution for now and I can release a new version later once a better solution is found.

    If anybody's going to Unite this week, I'll be there and happy to meet!

    Cheers!
    Brett

    You can purchase and download through the Asset Store once it's available. This week is Unite conference so I'll get it submitted this wee but it won't be available I'm sure until next week at the earliest.

    Just put the dll in a sub-folder and have a "README.txt" that instructs you the user needs to be moved to a specific location. This is done for a lot of assets that require setups which can't be properly packed into an asset folder, for example setting up things like layers and render-settings or input. It's pretty common to have to do some setup initially before a complex asset works.

    (And yes, Unity accepts this solution).

    Even better, I managed to get it fixed ;-)

    I was able to add the path to the Assets/Plugins folder to the process PATH environment variable. Now it can stay where it belongs and no funky copying stuff around.

    Cheers,
    Brett
