Hello I just started unity about a month ago and really enjoying it. I Am looking into it as a career possibility but not sure what to do or how to even start the path from this point. Any suggestions or tools to help me improve my capability in unity and/or advice on how to get a job in this field?

Welcome! Follow Unity's tutorials, make small games, and try your hand at some game jams (see itch.io or Indie Game Jams for lists of jams) preferably with other people in a small team. The experience of living it, even as a new hobbyist, will help you make decisions about careers in game development. Also consider finding and attending local in-person meetups, such as your local IGDA chapter. You can ask people there about their day-to-day lives as game developers, and how they got there. Good luck, and have fun!

Look up Extra Credits on youtube.

Learn the fundamental problem-solving skill: breaking big problems into smaller ones.

Remember that your skills mean nothing if nobody knows your name.

Show your work and show your enthusiasm for it, regardless of its quality relative to the rest of the industry. Never call your work crap. Always remember your work is flawed, and will always be flawed. Be okay with this.

    Don't expect kindness from strangers.

    Always write down your ideas.

Always be willing to throw your ideas away.

Remember that you will always have another idea.

Be generous with what you learn.

Be humble and helpful in giving and receiving criticism.

    Never freelance without a contract.

Learn to love, and be excited about small ideas.

    Do take breaks.

    Do not stop.

    Do finish projects.

    Do play games.

Hmm, I like this thread. What about the personal qualities or character? Are the any specific character features should have a person to become a professional game developer?

    Hey,
I'm a design director who will be playing games and analysing them from a design perspective starting Tuesday from 12-1pm on twitch. If you want to learn check out my stream or YouTube as both will soon have design focused learning materials. Look up TheDogtoy
