Monodevelop not working

hey , im new to unity and programming and was following the unity beginners tutorial. When I typed the exact code as mentioned in the tutorial , it did not work. Somehow the colours in my script are absolutely different and the program is not declaring variables ( no colour). Tried to restart everything but it was still the same.
please help... Here is a screenshot.

 

The screenshot looks perfectly okay to me, I think.
One small thing, though, is that when you have that "play button" enabled, I've noticed that some features work less-well or not at all, when I've used monodevelop.
Did you try a simple project with Unity at the same time and encounter any errors or the script not working? That would be something different.

 

Wouldn't surprise me if Mono Develop came with a different color scheme. Unless you're using the exact version of Unity that was used to create the tutorial you're going to find minor differences like this. Colors used in Mono Develop have no effect on the way your scripts run so don't worry about it.
