Linux Postfix in Project Version String necessary?

    I'm curious whether the Linux Postfix (e.g. 2017.1.0xf3Linux or 5.6.1xf1Linux)
    in the version string stored in ProjectVersion.txt is really necessary?

    It's not a real issue but the reason I'm asking is that it is a minor annoyance working with anyone using the official Win/Mac versions.
