The Unity Editor 5.4.3 adds the plattform name to the ProjectVersion.txt file. So while on Windows/macOS you have "m_EditorVersion: 5.4.3f1" this line becomes "m_EditorVersion: 5.4.3xf1Linux". Is that really neccessary?

Yes - this is our new method for tagging experimental feature builds.

Alright, that makes sense. However, it's a bit of an annoing thing for version control. But I guess we are months away of a stable release of the linux editor?

I was noticing this same issue for the 5.5.0f3 build, I agree that this is annoying for version control and did not see this issue when I was running 5.4.1 o_O

I hope it's safe to add the ProjectVersion.txt to the ignore list for git or svn
