Why do developers try to stay below 2000 pounds? They would rather not be a single ton.

I know that isn't the purpose of this thread, but corny gems like that don't pass through my head often.

Well Aras-p wanted to thank you then (he posted it a month back and I kept it, I guess we now know who originally made it), anyway it was a thread resurrection update.. not an original meme content from me update

This isn't really about game dev but its just an example of the "quality" community over on StackOverflow... All the other answers had like 30 upvotes...

For a moment I thought you meant unity instead of the forum. But that explains why I see so many broken links. I always wondered where that is coming from.
@SaraCecilia: Is there maybe a better way to make the forum handle embedded image links that are too big, like for example auto-replacing them with a "click here to view image" link to the file instead of the broken image icon? The way it is now I don't know how I could still access those images, right click and "view image" only shows me the error icon.

 

Hmm, but isn't that just the image host who are not hosting the images anymore? If I edit a post on this thread with the broken image icons I can see the link for the images, such as https://i.imgsafe.org/9bce355b9e.jpg

Edit: ah okay, went back a few pages and found posts with images embedded that are displaying the broken image icon as well. it's not due to the size though, could actually be a redirect issue since we recently put the forums on https and some images link to http. hmmm, need to investigate.

 

That kind of linkrot is to be expected, but how I understood @rakkarage I thought this is a different issue. I vaguely remember not being able to embed an image with img tags that I hosted on my own webspace. Should I tag you again when I encounter that kind of error somewhere on an image file that definitely still is online?

 

I know what you mean now, we'll have to look into this as it's an error (see my edit in the post above.)

Afaik they aren't free, you get them as part of the Unity plus subscription. Only TMP is really free now.
