I haven't yet. Is is similar to the first episodic game? Played that a couple years ago.
I've enjoyed Axiom Verge and a couple other platformers. Witcher 3 looks great though I have to wait to play it more than the 5 minutes I've given it - maybe Christmas time. ;)

I haven't found a decent android game to play... like what is good? currently the most played app as a game on my phone is ... wait for it...

    solitaire

I was thinking maybe gemcraft would be good on android.. the problem with android is the play store is cucking pile of stinking sh#it.. I'm literately put off everything on it because it the player store app is so ffkg garbage, its like dumbed down idiocracy crap from the future bit like win10 only its here now already sadly :p

It looks good, but then I watched it, and the actual gameplay was just too simplistic for me, I thought maybe the plane control would be a bit more realistic in movement around the screen.

Is there a decent Desert/Jungle/Urban Strike game for mobile ? I've searched this question before and its quiet surprising how many have asked the same question.. definitely a desire by gamers to have something like this on mobile, and yet I've not seen anything all that decent, I did see someone on reddit posted something that looked like a strike type game forgot it now.

Here's my top 3 mobile games:

Try Pixel Dungeon, its free on Andriod and is lots of fun. I first though it was going to be stupid but I found that after playing it a bit its a deep and fun game. The graphics are simple but the mechanics are amazing, a great roguelike and it works on pretty much any device.

Also is you like fps games, try Nova 3, its really a great game and the multiplayer is fantastic. It's a bit old (2013ish) but its still got great graphics and is super fun.

Another great game is Terraria, its got great pixel art graphics, amazing lore, lots of creative freedom, awesome amounts of content, and my favorite boss fights ever. Again not a 2016 game but its still super fun. :)

Over the course of 2 years I have probably played 500+ hours in these three alone (that statistic is probably wildly inaccurate as I am terrible at telling time, but I did spent about 2 summers playing these and smash bros daily, back in the good old days before I found out about jobs and money ;)).

Sounds like a good target niche to develop for. Too bad I'm not into those types of games. I bet some developers are though. ;)

Also, 2016 isn't over. Wouldn't a topic like this usually happen in early 2017?

I'm very upset with this thread.

Well there we go, there is a gap in the market for you. Realistic arcade upright shooter plane movement.

lol @SteveJ sorry this is so upsetting to you. I'm sure there will be another dude asking the same question in 2017. I just wanted to see what people thought were the best games of this year. What do you think anyway? Got a favorite or will we have to wait until 2017 to find out? ;)

Same here. I clocked over two hundred hours playing it according to Steam. That said it's got horrible reviews all over.

Pokémon Go was probably the biggest gaming phenomenon this year. Sure it was short lived. But it was incredibally wide spread and had some real, if temporary, social impacts.

At the very least, it would have to be the winner of the "game that even most general public non-gamers recognise" award.

I've given it some thought now, and I might lean towards DOOM (2016) as my game of the year. Not committing to that just yet though.

My game is the best game app of 2016, which is unreleased and no one knows about it. But I can assure you I applied many tests on my game to make sure it is the best game of 2016!

But in all seriousness, "Summoners War" was amazing to play and their mechanics really blew my mind on what apps are doing now a days to keep people playing.

Witcher 3 for shure. Waited for it, than waited for dlcs. Blood and Wine is really dlc of the year. As big as some single games.

If there are any VR/AR games worth playing they will have strong competition from the Nintendo Switch games. :p

Why? Not quite sure how Switch is a competitor to VR?

If the choice is between a Nintendo console for $300 and a VR headset for $800 which are most people going to buy? :D

I understand what you mean though. They aren't really competing. I meant more for the "Best Gaming App of 2017" title.

I think in 2017 VR has a good shot, surely there will be something ground breaking that makes every other gaming platform look like crap.

I'm just waiting for someone to try shoving the Nintendo Switch into a Google Cardboard-like enclosure and develop a virtual reality title for it. We'll have to see if it's small enough to be comfortable though. It does look rather large.

I voted for Slither.io - I don't know why but I can play this dumb game over and over again. Eating your competitors remains is pretty awesome.
