    Hi,

we've been running 5.6 since beta 9 through beta 10 and beta 11 since March 8. For us, Unity has become less stable and extremely slow and laggy in beta 11. For example, pressing the Collab dropdown button, takes around 20 seconds to complete, and when it completes, it just closes again. Then we have to click it again and wait for around 10 seconds before the collab window shows up.

Script compiling is really a long wait as well, and it was a lot faster in 5.5 and in 5.6b9 and b10. Since b10 we're getting a never ending compile spinner quite often, and when it happens Unity needs to be restarted.

All in all, b11 is a step in the wrong direction, and 5.6 editor overall is a lot slower than 5.5.

For us, Beta 11, Editor (macOS) is faster than oldest betas, BUT in build for iOS, frame rate down from 30 fps to 9 fps in iPhone 7 Plus.

On our side, it is the Windows 10 devs that experience the slowness and collab bugs, the Mac devs are happy with b11.

    Hi Haakon,
Could you please file individual bug reports for the reproducible problems with reproduction cases and reply in here with the case #s?

Hi LeonhardP, I just posted this in the Collaborate forums. You can find several people reporting similar issues and bugs there, and many references to bug reports.

    https://forum.unity3d.com/threads/collaborate-projects-freezing-unity.444227/

"Collab is flat out useless. It started out really well in the early versions, but ever since we switched to 5.6 beta Collab freezes Unity, generates hundreds of changed files on it's own for no good reason (line endings diff between mac and pc users in our team?). Updated to 5.6f2 an hour ago, and now I can't upload changes anymore. Every time I click the Collab dropdown, I get a loader bar in the middle of the screen saying "Hold On. Importing small assets". After that nothing happens - the collab window never opens.

We stopped using the collab dropdown for pulling changes as it almost always has a red exclamation mark on it or an error message when it was opened. The history tab at least works correctly for pulling stuff. But it can't push, and now we're stuck.

Unity 5.6 is supposed to be released in 3 days, these collab bugs better be fixed in that build, if not it's not something we can use, it really kills all pleasure and productivity in Unity."

Unity 5.6 is probably a stellar product, it is Collaborate that kills the pleasure of using Unity. Pity, such a convenient service, but we can't continue using it. It seems to have really, really low priority for Unity, no fixes at all during the last couple of months of the 5.6 beta period to be seen in the release notes.
