|
|
|
Hi,
wanted to ask in a separate thread if anyone is interested in monday night pre-Unite user meeting like last year? Something like meet in a pub, have a beer, talk Unity-stuff and life and all that?
Idea was to have some location nearby Fort Mason (if possible) and see if we get some people there for a beer. (Edit: Or soft drink or whatever you like)
Date would be then monday, the 26th of october. Location to be discussed here.
Best
Martin
----------------------------------------
EDIT: Final location set!
All righty, so the official details for our pre-unite meeting:
When?
Monday, 26th of october, 7pm
Where?
Dell'uva - http://www.delluvasf.com/
565 Green Street in San Francisco's North Beach

sign me up!
Please post details here as new posts so I can get emailed when new info occurs. I've been heads-down on a unity project and I don't have a lot of time to check the forums currently.

Anywhere along Chestnut or Union Streets should serve you well, and both are close to Fort Mason. I'm not sure where I'll be as I have a lot to juggle that week, but if a final spot is chosen then definitely post up the details.
Sorry, but those are not my regular hang-out neighborhoods so I'm not really able to offer solid suggestions. If you wander over to the Polk & Broadway area then I can say things like The Greens Sports Bar and Shanghai Kelly's. But again, those an extra distance away from either Chestnut or Union. _________________ Tom Higgins - Product Evangelist at Unity Technologies ApS

Sounds great. I'm too broke to attend this year, so it'd be really nice to get to meet people and have a Unite-Lite experience. _________________ "Order and Protection. In order that they may rot in comfort." - Miller |

Don't know if that fits, but in the Jefferson St. near the Aquatic Park there is a lot of restaurants. Mostly those "tourist" kind of larger restaurants, but hey, we ARE tourists!
http://maps.google.de/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=de&geocode=&q=795+Folsom+,San+Francisco+94107+&sll=37.781896,-122.400897&sspn=0.001378,0.00213&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=795+Folsom+St,+San+Francisco,+Kalifornien+94103,+Vereinigte+Staaten&ll=37.807652,-122.420306&spn=0.002674,0.004131&t=h&z=18&layer=c&cbll=37.807667,-122.4202&panoid=IzO5-RwUXLQ8IeVkyJp2pg&cbp=12,353.71,,0,11.76
That is on the opposite side of the park to Fort Mason, Fishermans Wharf.
Where is the most of you guys staying? Does it make sense to take a restaurant there? _________________ http://www.decane.net

Jefferson in that area is a very touristy place so don't expect anything "local", but as you said, you'll be tourists for the most part so you'll fit right in! Like I said above, if you find things along Union or Chestnut Streets you'll (a) be closer to the hotels on Lombard (for those staying there), (b) be closer to the conference location and (c) be less touristy and more local if that strikes your fancy.
Either location I'm sure there'll be plenty of fun on tap so pick one and go for it!
If you want a mix of tourists and locals, with lots of options get over to North Beach. Us UT SF types have made it a habit to do to dell'uva, but there are plenty of others too and lots of restaurants. You just have to be up for a short cab ride to get there (or fun on the bus system!). _________________ Tom Higgins - Product Evangelist at Unity Technologies ApS

Hehe, yeah, it's hard to find a place from remote, hence I'll greatly appreciate your input. A bunch of us stays at the hotels in the Lombard street, so anything in that area would be cool. What I would like is if that bar would offer some kind of dinner too so. Any food would be ok, even burgers.

Yeah, they're very close to each other and it's an easy walk between Fisherman's Wharf and North Beach (Google Map). _________________ Tom Higgins - Product Evangelist at Unity Technologies ApS

Personally I'd love to see some of those mixed bars/restaurants, North Beach looks fine. By chance, do you know some bar/restaurant there? _________________ http://www.decane.net

Long ago haunt of mine that's nice: Savoy Tivoli. The current North Beach hang-out for us UT SF folks, Dell'uva (wine/beer bar with food, no cocktails or hard alcohol). If those bore you, roll up/down Grant and you'll find lots o' good places, many of which we visit on various Friday/Saturday nights.
If you want a serious mouthful of garlic for dinner, check out the Stinking Rose. Or if good chinese food is your thing, wander to the southern edge of North Beach where it borders China Town and hit up the House of Nanking.
