Hi,

I would to find out how many users currently have the unity web player installed, or get some information about the tendencies / growth.

Is there any such information?

Thanks.

Hm nope, never seen any of those numbers.

There are stats on the users hardware.

The web site says that numbers are in the 8 figures. The last I heard was in the 14,000,000 range with about a million installs a month for growth. In my opinion, what is more important is conversion rate on installs -- the number of site visitors who don't have Unity, are prompted and then successfully install. This is site-specific, but I've heard of some major sites pulling more than 60% for that number. The case I'm thinking of, the number was based on visits, not unique visitors... so a user who came to the site, saw the plugin but didn't install until later was counted as 50% (1 install, 2 visits).

We see an overall conversion rate of 50%, and a funnel conversion of around 25% (people that make it through in one go). The difference is likely people trying to play a second game, first, and then realizing they have to install the plugin.

We'll do a post on the Blurst tech blog sometime about how to track Unity player install conversion.

We don't post the raw install numbers, just the hardware stats and percentages found at the link provided in Leepo's reply. The raw figures Charles cited are based on internal discussions and data we share on an anecdotal basis. The 14M figure might be a tad high but it's on track, as is the roughly 800K-1M installs per month, but even that is trending upward with all the great content folks are making (content is king y'all!).

The specific sentence:

Quote:
The plug-in download is small (about 3 MB), auto-installs without a browser restart, and already has a 8-digit distribution

Here are some Wooglie figures:

First of all I must note that I recently adjusted our install tracking, but it *should* be working well.

Of our daily visitors, 66% already have the unity plugin installed (We get a lot traffic via the unity community itself of course).

Of all visitors that entered the site without the unity plugin, 66% installs the plugin. Users that installed the plugin via Wooglie, spent 3 times as much time on the site than other visitors, the bounce rate is twice as low as well (they are excited about the quality of unity games Wink ?).

Of our total daily visitors, in the end, +/- 13% has not installed the plugin..and most likely left the site after the install page. So of all our daily visitors; 87% can use the unity plugin.

We use google analytics for these figures.
