Who is the best Unity Developer?

And Why?

Hint: It's not me!

I probably could be the best/worst critic of Unity, who still uses Unity.

 

You ask a subjective question as if it were objective.

There will never be a clear "best" because it's so broad. There are perhaps "best" developers for a specific task. But even that will still be extremely controversial and unfair.

 

This question is different for every person. There's also quite a lot of factors to take in, is it cinematics, gameplay, level design? If it was graphics then I would say NVYVE are really good, but the opinion of them being the best devs is highly subjective.

 

I know for sure 100% it's not me. I'd say of the people I know or chat with, @superpig would be the best at Unity kung fu.

Not sure what the point of this thread is tbh.

 

Why superpig, what has he/she done that really made them stand out to you?

It's just your opinion, who is the most outstanding Unity developer you know of, have you seen some of their work and been blown away?

Why and Why Not?

It can highlight the best Unity developers so other developers can be inspired by what the best unity developers can do.

 

For me its simple arrogance. I assume I can do anything I set my mind to. And so far life has proven me right. Assuming I am the best is a pretty solid confidence boost.

 

Potentially BoredMormon is the best. But realistically he's the grumpiest. :-3

Look, I can put three grumpy faces in a row. . That's very grumpy.

 

Best Unity dev definitely never me. Very good all around in many different languages and frameworks. Yeah that is me.

But who cares about being "the best" anyway? That's worrying too much about what the other folks are doing. I just want to be better tomorrow (all around) than I am today as I am better today than I was yesterday. Continual incremental (wee tiny bit) improvement.

 

'Best' Unity Developer is a tricky definition. What would you define as 'Best'? Best output of content? Or best at using the tool in terms of vastness of knowledge and depth?

In terms of vastness of knowledge and depth; there are a fair few developers at Unity Tech who would rival the majority of users. In terms of game-based output; im a huge fan of the people at UsTwo for creating Monument Valley, and Blizzard for creating Hearthstone.

 

Don't know about the best Unity developer, but the best chocolate is white chocolate. Does that answer the question?

Joachim Ante probably has the best knowledge of the engine.

I've worked with lots of people and the best are probably not on this forum and you've never heard of them. I worked with a guy recently who is a high up programmer at one of the most successful studios that use Unity and he is hands down the best user of Unity I've ever seen... he's "hacky implementation" of an aspect of a game is something i'd of paid $50 for on the asset store! And he made it in a single day!

Anyway I'm sure there's someone in the basement of Activision or something that's the best... but considering Unity is such large tool the best general user is probably not the best at any individual aspect, like the best coder is probably not good at doing lighting.

 

I agree, Tom Cruise was and is the best Unity developer of all time.

 

Stirring up debates like most of his other threads? He's just reached the point where his normal topics are getting closed.

It's all coming apart at the seams... the Indie Apocalypse is upon us. Developers are going crazy... soon there will be internet forum riots. People will Greenlight Steam games they don't like just to turn the system on its ear and fight the man. @Ryiah will switch avatar photos to something other than an anime girl. @frosted will create an avatar photo. We all know what happened to the once greatly respected @CarterG81... and I currently have a good game idea. Repent, for the end is not near... the end is already here!
