    Hey guys,
This is my game project on which I worked alone for 3 years:
WARSHIFT is a mix of Action, RTS, RPG gameplay elements that forms an innovative game genre (rather, I'm trying to create new class). You can collect resources, build base, manage armies, and then come down to keep the enemies at gunpoint, gain experience in dynamic battles and customize your main characters and vehicles.
This is actually my first experience with Stem: http://store.steampowered.com/app/392580

    New gameplay video:

    • Switching between Action/RTS mode on the battlefield
    • Dynamic battles in the action mode
    • NODE-based strategy gameplay
    • 16 types of units: 6 customizable combat avatars, 9 AI soldiers, 1 heavy-unit
    • 8 types of building
    • Powerful orbital strikes
    • Evolving system for customizable combat avatars that are designed to add to the game some RPG elements.
    • Dozens of weapons and upgrades
    • Super-abilities and transformations
    • Heavy unit "Dreadnought" is designed to add to the game some elements from classic “wargame” genre, such as tactical management of heavy orbital/atmospheric battleships.
    • Grounded, air, water, underwater and outer space environments

    CUSTOM SKIRMISHES vs AI:
4 playable maps for customizable skirmishes against AI:
    • Orbital sector is designed especially for battles in the outer space
    • Naval sector is a mix of 4 playable environments
    • Sector “Frontier” has ruins of bastion that located between the dense jungle and desert
    • Wide sector is designed to show full potential of strong armies and battleships

    SINGLE PLAYER CAMPAIGN:
    • 10 linked single player missions for the human faction campaign shows almost all the current features and modes of the game.
    • Basic LAN multiplayer.

I will be glad to discuss anything regarding creation and improvement of strategic AI and creating RTS-based games using Unity3d engine.
Also, I'm currently working on joystick controls implementation. So I need advice regarding key mapping for RTS mode. Because I'm really don't have much experience with controllers.

I can't believe that a single person can produce something of such high quality (especially looking at some early release games on steam). Really impressive.
This looks amazing! Too bad it isn't an MMO :p

Great job man. What pathfinding tool did you use, and did you work on this fulltime?

Thank you all for good comments!

    @ ephemeral life
Yes, I work on this full time and more.
I'm using pathfinding based on standard navmesh. It is fine. There is only one problem with carving: every time when I carve a hole for new building that caused short pause for all agents on the level.

Wow mindblowing this is all created by one person. Game seems like was created by a development studio. I wish you great success with this game.

This could possibly be the most impressive one man project that I have seen so far. Damn good work!

Wow, simply stunning... It's hard to believe this has been created be a single person, even if he were an experienced game developer. Did you created all the assets by your own or have you outsourced the creation of some content?

Keep up the good work and good luck with the early access!

Thank you all for good feedback!

    @sir_luke
I mainly created assets alone since they must comply with the requirements and game style. But I sometimes buy small part of assets in store.

You kept motivation and successfully finished your game , this is a rare skill not all people have.
Your game is very detailled and polished in many areas and you used lot of effects to make it looking very dynamic, this is also great work as many indies underestimate special effects.

Unbelievable, you could have told me this game was made by 10 people and it would still be impressive. I wish I could afford to work on mine full time as well.

This looks like amazing work, congratulations you truly deserve it!

The game looks great and sorry for the curiosity but what did you mean that you made it by yourself?
You have done everything on your own? Code/Graghics/music?
Do you ever sleep or eat?

I refuse to believe you made the entire game by yourself, surely you have help with SOMETHING! :O The price you're selling it for is very generous too! Judging by the videos in your post the quality of this game is way more than TripleA, you have single handedly raised the bar I really hope this gets much more attention because it deserves it, you can expect at least 2 more Steam sales (me and my gf haha)

    INCREDIBLE!

You should use the fact that it's a solo project for marketing purposes. You may get some exposure on big portals just for that. You will get articles like: "What One Man Could That Big Huge Games Couldn't". XD

Thank you all for your comments and advices!

I mean that I working alone in this project. Currently I made by myself about 99% of gaming code, 90% of graphics/animation assets. Sound FX engineering I made by myself, but music tracks I generally bought, except 1 my own music track. And I made all work with game design, build-making and PR/marketing (that's my issue).

Thank you! I'm already did that. Here is link: http://madewith.unity.com/games/warshift

I just bought Warshift. It is still 50% off until Aug. 3rd. And @CyrilMegem...you are a friggin' genius. You are up there with the all time greats of game development like John Carmack and Chris Taylor.

And the reactions over on NeoGaf are hilarious...lots of blown minds because Warshift was created by only a single developer: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1101916

I've been coding since 1984 and even if I had 100 more years to learn and improve I'd never reach the level nor attain the skill of the developer who made this. Inspiring and makes me want to jump off a cliff at the same time.

Unity has a pretty good terrain Editor that makes creating terrain easy. But still...to make the amount and detailed terrain in Warshift is an incredible amount of work for even a team of people and unbelievable for one developer.

i really like how you handle the camera transitions between FPS, 3rd Person, and top-down views... very nice.

How long prior to doing this project had you been doing 3D and game development?

I just want to go roll up in a ball now in the corner and give up learning this lol.

The things I want to ask about these development stories are typically personal questions that can usually come across as offensive. Like, "How did you support yourself throughout the development of this?" and "How many hours a day did you work on it?"

It usually spawns lengthy controversial discussions like the homeless dev a few months back.

Don't get me wrong, Warshift looks awesome. But if other aspiring devs are looking to emulate that sort of level of quality, they have to know what kind of time, effort, and sacrifice they put into it.

Warshift looks absolutely incredible for a single-dev project, man. I'm a solo dev myself so I can realy feel how much work must have gone into this. No matter how well this game ends up doing commercially, you can be hugely proud of what you've accomplished here. I bought a copy!

LOL - would that be a black unicorn?

For all those who think high quality games can't be created by a solo indie developer using Unity
    WARSHIFT! :p

    Awesome job @CyrilMegem
