Version numbering

Can Unity please automatically assign new version numbers or force the developers to create new ones when they release an update to an existing asset?

I am so tired of having to actually download assets again just to check manually if they published a new version.

This still does happen... I am not a publisher myself, so I can not check why this might be happening, but it is fact that publisher can publish an update and the internal Asset Store window would not show the "Update" button for me.
