    Please help,

Suddenly Unity stopped rendering Mesh (not even wireframe) in the Scene view, even when I create a Cube from GameObject>Create Other. This happened overnight when I came back to work the next day and opened Unity.

I have updated my graphics drivers, I have completely un-installed Unity and re-installed, I've removed everything Unity related, including all project data from my system. I've tried basic license and Pro license. Nothing seems to fix this.

Any new project I create or scene I open has this problem. Not just the one I was working on when it "broke". I've had multiple engineers over my desk trying to troubleshoot this and my system at my company seems to be the only one having this problem and it doesn't appear to be related to our project.

Everyone's basically given up short of IT issuing me a new computer...that would be a ridiculous solution, but it's all that my company could offer me at this point. Has anyone ever had this problem? Are there hidden configuration files that might not be removed with a Unity Uninstall? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Unity 3.3.04f (Pro License)
Windows XP Professional, Version 2002, Service Pack 3
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GTX+ (newest drivers)

    Thanks,

    Russell

I should have noted that when I run the game the objects do actually render as expected!

I have exactly the same problem. I can not see anything in the scene. Wireframe mode only if I select an object in the hierarchy.

I reinstalled Unity, always the problem I use the free version

    I found a solution!

I deleted the registry in two groups Unity Unity Technologies, which is in HKEY_CURRENT_USER / SOFTWARE

Um...that may have been a very bad idea. Unless you REALLY know what you're doing, you don't need to be fooling around with the registry.

As far as unrendering meshes, I have not run into this in Unity, but I have encountered it in 3Ds Max. I doubt it is the same, but it usually results when I log out of my laptop and log back in, with 3Ds still open, causing Direct3D to fail. All I have to do is save the scene and restart 3Ds. But seeing as you've reinstalled the piss out of that machine, You've obviously restarted Unity x(

Nothing was done,r reinstallation, or reboot.

It is safe to delete these entries, they are automatically recreated when the opening, with the default values, as the first launch of Unity

Using 3.2.0f4, I encountered the same issue and was able to fix it.

Under the Layout drop-down in the top-right corner of the screen there's an option to Revert Factory Settings, using that, saving, and then reopening the project fixed the issue.

I was having this problem, and after pulling my hair out for an hour in frustration, I googled it and this was the top hit. Its been three months since the poor original poster was having a problem, but for anyone looking for an answer, try this: Look in the 'Layers' drop down box in the upper right of Unity, and make sure you didn't uncheck 'Default'.

wow.. I can't believe I had the same issue.. I must of hit the "Default" in the layers tab at not noticed it was unchecked...

Now I can see all the objects that where not rendering...

It was interesting as I was doing a google search of: unity objects only rendering when scene tab then game tab is clicked

as i couldn't lock down to the fact that the default layer was not enabled.
and the behavior would only show the object that you select on in the Inspector...

I had the same issue once forgetting to turn Default back on under Layers, I then ended up where that no longer worked.
If I change to Shaded Wireframe, now the mesh shows up (along with wireframe of course) but all mesh still vanishes if I switch back to just Shaded even with the Default Layer visible. I can see collider shapes, just no mesh.

And as suspected had to restart Unity for everything to go back to normal.
