    @EMMANEMSAURIO REX I was actually going do do something with a similar style to yours at first and then chose my current theme instead so looking forward to see your model

    The doom side of my diorama is complete

    I crunched polygons like crazy to get my full scene done. At the very end I was literally counting vertices needed per object and then going and finding places to strip to make it possible .. my scene now has exactly 6000 vertices!! I need to re-bake everything again for the front and still need to bake everything in the back

    Thanks! no I've sculpted directly in zbrush, and now I've exported the highpoly mesh into 3ds max, and creating the lowpoly topology on it ;-)

    @xenius

    Also thank you! I'm glad you find it creepy, was the point on this model ;)

    Finally got enough time to retopo my gun prop here is the first bakes, very happy with it as I have plenty of verts left to play with, also started blocking out my character.

    @shaderbytes that is looking great!

    @capodraven love that sculpt. really cool

    @EMMANEMSAURIO REX really like the concept its the type of theme I am going for :)

    yes...i'm always looking for unconventional ideas or interpretations of themes, but this time i choose the opposite.
    BTW your interpretation is really cool! you are doing a great job!

    @EMMANEMSAURIO REX Thank you! it's not so hard to do, it take just a little time at the beginning of retopo because you have to think how to create the wireframe. ;-)

    @shaderbytes Niiiiiiice! I like your diorama, there'is a real ambience !! GG!

    @shaderbytes I really like the atmosphere here, It kind of reminds me of Trine.

    I have 1 question, how do you get in? is it a 1 way trip into the witches cauldron?

    Thanks @Serinx I love Trine!!

    There is some enchantment on the door that will thrust a victim through before they get a proper chance to step back. At that point you would simply fall into the cauldron but then this witch has a giant pet spider of coarse. The spiders name is Florence , she will shoot a web and catch those falling so they can be inspected first. They may need to be caged and fattened up a bit first. Sometimes Florence might just have them for dinner immediately .. hey a girls gotta eat :)

    Hi everyBody, so here is the rest of the elements to build my diorama. I have 2 questions for you guys:

    MoD_wip008.jpg
    1. Is the number of vertices good, or do I need to reduce to keep in the limits of the contest? (this missunderstanding is only due to my "swissEnglish" ^^)
    2. I'm not shure if I let the base socle under the shroom or not. what do you think? (not sure if it's a good question in the context of modeling for a contest lol)

    @capodraven yup the verts are good ;)

    I think if you have the waterfall then the base ( socle , I never knew that word until now ) is good to have. Even though this is a competition I feel its great to be able to ask open questions and get feedback. The community involvement is awesome. In fact its way better than some modeling specific forums Ive posted in. I once did a calculation on the mentioned forum , i dont want to say which one, by getting the percentage of response vs view counts for the first few pages over a few days and its was under 2%.! Sharing your artwork to an audience who have nothing to say about it is not a very good feeling ;)

    Here is my entry. I knew straight away I wanted to do Toad in a new way. I liked the thought of turning him into a mercenary because of how tame and friendly he is in the games. Hope you guys like it had loads of fun doing this one :)

    Below is two shots of the scene one in daytime and one at Dusk and of course the sketchfab model

    Edit - Just wanted to add a shot of the Gun too

    and the low poly model, with exactly 6000 verts, now I'm gonna make sure that the normals won't look messed up in Sketchfab

    her belly is inspired from Dark Souls 2 undead curse mark :D and then the face, I don't even know how I got to that duck face shroom face :p

    BTW,
    Thomas, if we add a platform for the actual mod, does that platform count to the actual 6000 verts budget?

    Hey everyone,

    Here's my first WIP. Didn't stay very true to my concept!

    Still need to add some details, some little mushroom shoulder pads, a weapon, rig and pose him and set the scene. (And maybe give him a tail :))

    I have a lot of spare vertices so I'll have to think of something good to do with them!

    Hopefully I can finish in time.

    @led2012 Yes the pPlatform/Diorama has to be included in that vert limit. So in this case it's probably more important to spend most the vertices on the shroom itself and see what you have left to create your base/diorama.

    added some few things, and removed some vertices so the verts would fit the budget
    Still not satisfied with the "texture"(for now, I just used the 2 normal maps, and a custom shader, these previews are rendered in blender, and I'm gonna bake them for sketchfab)
    Currently at 5598 verts, I still need to figure out how to make the particle effects

    I've tried a few new ideas, but in the end I really liked my first concept, so I just tried to add some new features to it, I'm having a bad time figuring out the texture work, any tips?

    Me too! I tried many colors, used photos as textures and painted stuff in Photoshop for hours but it doesn't look right. Still working on it. I have to practice texturing more often I guess.

    If you're intending to keep the low poly style, I'd opt for simple gradient colours and a good lightmap to bring the scene to life. Something like this springs to mind.
