    Great!

I noticed that the license page shows native plugins are now supported in the free version. I hope that's not a mistake. :)

Congrats David and the rest of the Unity Team. You've come a long way! Impressive stuff. And to think that back in '06 we could've chosen Torque instead...

Thank you guys for unity 3d ver 4.0.
In Unity 4 - Angry bots example ...Shader "AngryBots/PlanarRealtimeReflection" is not working same as in unity 3.5.6...its looking corrupted. It should show reflection of the player. but its showing some random flashy texture with no proper offsetting.

I have a question. I have a fairly powerful direct x 11 compatible machine. But when I activate Direct x 11, Unity crashes on average of about every 10 minutes of use.

Any solutions for this? Is anyone else experiencing this?

    Thanks,

    Rob,

    Brilliant Game Studios.

It's a mistake. Just tested a native plugin here, and it says it's only supported by Pro.

This is amazing! Even during the previous versions I was thinking that Unity is the best engine, even without some new graphic technologies. But now, when Unity have it, it is absolutely best engine on planet! With a Dx11 my project looks overwhelming, and new editor improvements it is exactly what I was missing.
Thanks you for your great work! Keep it up!

    On the + side :

It loads faster, enters play mode a whole lot faster, has more toys :D

    On the - side :

It still has some of the core problems that have not been fixed for years...
Like the mouse not staying in the window in fullscreen mode on multi-monitor systems :(
The asset store tab detaches from the tab area everytime you open it for the first time..
The asset store manager never rembers me :(

I don't see any mention anymore of nested prefabs in whats to come in the future?
I saw a video somewere where you could set what inspector variables would be exposed in a scene and was looking forward to it.

Also 2 gamestopper bugs are still open so they won't be fixed?
(Shuriken particle's not shutting down if the stop call comes while they are outside the view. And water reflection flickering when using water4 with an occlusion bake)

I am working with native plugins (as a DLL) also with Unity 3.x (the free version).

Be aware: It seems, that there is a bug in Unity 4. It worked fine with Unity 3.x and with Unity 4.0 Public Beta.

I already sent a Bug Report.

Will you still get 3.5 pro if you purchase 4.0?

It hasn't been possible to buy Unity 3 for some time; the only thing you've been able to buy is a Unity 4 license, which works with any previous version (it's always been the case that a Unity license will work with previous versions).

    Excellent - just one question:

Is $750 a temporary or permanent upgrade price for Unity Pro 3.x users? I could buy it now but I want to wait. The thing is, I'm not sure how long I can wait if the price is going to change later.

Can someone point me to download locations for older versions of Unity than 4.x? We have a project well underway with 3.5.x and need the latest downloads for the 3.5.6 release that went out the door a while back. Updating the project to version 4 this late in the cycle is utterly terrifying ;P

    Congratulations to the new product!

It looks like it won't be possible to publish for Windows Phone even though in Amsterdam it sounded like this will be part of the Unity 4 release?

I am not happy with the new version as the setactive function does not work and creates a lot of problems with existing projects. Also activating/deactivating object with children in the inspector is an adventure especially for object with deep hierarchies. I totally disagree.
Also I tried to use 3.5.6 again but I have fatal error and cannot use it anymore.
I installed unity 4 in a completely different folder and in a different hard disk than 3.5.6, but ....

Try running the 3.5.6 version after rebooting the computer.
It worked for me on Windows 7.
