    Dear everybody,

    Unity 4.3 is here and with it, native 2D tools, big animation improvements and many more new features and fixes. We’re extremely grateful to all the Alpha and Beta testers without whose help we wouldn’t have been able to develop these great ideas into a stable release – many, many thanks people.

    Get more details on what awaits you in this new version on our blog and on the Unity 4.3 landing page. Please use the Support section of the Forum to discuss issues, and the Gossip section to talk about this new release.

    We could really use an announcement about the new GUI system. I believe it was expected in this release by the whole community.

    I'm going to go ahead and disagree with everyone here: I'm really disappointed with this release.

    If you paid attention, Unity said that 4.3 will get the 2D tools and in a later release the new GUI, which relies on these 2D tools, will be shipped.

    Yay! The 2D stuff is very well done. I'm currently adapting a tile system I started; you can see a preview here.

    It wasn't; there was no indication it was going to be in this release judging from the blog posts so nobody should have been expecting it. We knew about the 2D stuff but that's it.

    If you are willing to spend the time to learn how to use all of its intricate capabilities then yes it is very good... however it was missing some very key functionality that made it a pita to use in some cases, this update has addressed a LOT of those issues imho. I am very much looking forward to checking these new changes out!

    Does anybody know why 4.3 takes so long to load a project after I installed it?

    I don't think I've been quite this excited for an update since I first heard of Unity3D. All of these updates and changes are spot-on and a massive step in the right direction. I know I will be enjoying these features extensively.

    A big thanks to the team at Unity!

    Does the upgrade of Monodevelop to 4.0.1 mean that you are planning on releasing a newer Mono version as well? Perhaps in 4.4? Or will it have to wait for 5.0?

    So, great ! i was waiting for Unity 4.3 to use new 2D features BUT !
    I am having an issue with monodevelop 4 : I no longer can scroll in the code editor ... that is very annoying.
    Then, when i am in unity and click on an error displayed on the console, monodevelop doesn't focus anymore on the line having the error...

    Semms like lots of nice features, but couple somewhat odd things:
    1. Project opening always crashed on prefabs with cloth renderers (fixed by removing them temporarily)
    2. "Improvements > Physics: Can now set up material for TerrainData." this essentially just switched the physics material from the terrain collider to the terrain component and now simple raycast to determine the physics material doesn't work conveniently with a single check like before (hit.collider.material throws an error when on terrain now) Any specific reason for this "improvement" that I may have missed?

    have you tried this on different project? if yes;

    delete all unity versions. reinstall 4.3. both scroll and focus works fine for me.

    if you have problem with opening a project;

    close unity and monodevelop delete all project root files + Library folder in project root + Temp folder in project root if exist.

    It opened after I deleted the cloth prefabs but now it's really messed up. Terrain billboards get some random textures from project and the ui has gone bananas when viewing anything with a 3d preview.:confused:
    I'll try deleting the temp caches etc some day, thanks for the tip ;)

    Is it only the first load on each project after installing? in that case it is updating the project to 4.3 and if you have a lot of assets that could take awhile as it basically reimports everything.

    Even if you don't use SourceControl we have found it is always best to have it turned on for the metafiles (Edit -> Project Settings -> Editor = set version control to meta files)... this will allow you to retain the links between objects and script refs, materials prefabs etc even when transporting from one project to another as long as the meta files are with it.

    However, is there someone using AVG Antivirus 2014 free edition on Windows 8.1 ?

    Maybe could verify this - I just got following warnings from AVG:

    I have deleted all Unity version.
    Deleted all projects root files + library and temp.
    then reinstalled u4.3
    I've tried several project and still having the problem.

    I use Mavericks and a logitech Performance MX.

    I cannot scroll my mouse into monodevelop :-/

    at work i have window 8.0 and performance mx. it works fine. at home i have imac, mavericks and microsoft laser 6000. it works fine.

    you should by another mouse :) when i googled i see this mouse has some problems with mac os. on windows it is great.

    Well, i had no problems with unity 4.2 and monodevelop with this mouse.

    Quiet disappointed as I will lost time with that bug

    this bug is directly related with monodevelop. from xamarin site download newest version of xamarin studio and use it with unity as external editor. you can change it from unity preferences.

    A long awaited release, great new features, but the new gui system is still missing which is quite disappointing in my opinion.

    now that 4.3 is out, could 4.4 upgrade mono and add 64-bit editor ;)

    Seems some documentation is missing, including on replacements for deprecated functions. I get:

    WARNING: 'UnityEditor.AnimationUtility.GetAllCurves(UnityEngine.AnimationClip)' is obsolete. GetAllCurves is deprecated. Use GetCurveBindings and GetObjectReferenceCurveBindings instead.

    But there is no documentation for
    GetCurveBindings or GetObjectReferenceCurveBindings.

    For now, I'm just hoping to not miss a relevant warning amongst these unavoidable ones.

    Thank you for the gift, dear developers (if it was designed - a surprise success)

    In editor place - all the post-effects and shaders (included also water reflections/refractions).
    In the build - the shadows (which were from 4.2) and the reflection/refraction on the water.

    Also, after project converting Blur working in Application Build (Executable file).
