NOTE TO MODS: If you think this post is better suited in a different section of the forum, feel free to move it. :)

So, who feels like designing tracks and brainstorming ideas for something I'm making? :)

I'm essentially making a racing game, (yet another one... although this time there's a reason for it) and thought that a good community-driven thread of track design ideas could help push my project along.

For those interested in where this is going, here's a description of the game: it is the year 2042, and a massive tournament is about to begin. you are a pilot of what is currently still the world's first hovercar, the Miraien Electromagnetic Vehicle (MEV) entering the biggest galaxy-wide tournament ever seen. It also has the biggest cash prize (NOTE: Not in reality!!! :D) ever seen in a MEV race. The objective is to not only finish the tournament in the top four, you must finish every race with a vehicle in perfect condition, as this will help your rank.

Current Game Rules/Mechanics (NOTE: Could change, as this game is obviously still in alpha):
    - All MEVs have two status indicators, (three actually, but the third's just a speedometer) vehicle condition and vehicle temperature.
    - If the vehicle temperature gets too high, the vehicle will start smoking. If the temperature reaches dangerously high levels, the back catches fire! While on fire, the condition slowly but surely gets lower and lower the longer the engines burn. Fortunately, if left for a while, the engines slowly cool down, and the engine fire eventually goes out, but not without leaving a massive scar on your vehicle. travelling at faster speeds can speed up cooling, as this forces more air in and out of the internal radiators.
    - When a vehicle is offline, it becomes flammable, and as a result, running into an offline opponent will result in an instant fire. However, because of the nature of it, so long as you don't push the vehicle too hard, it will cool down. of which leads us to the next section...
    - ...Of which is boosting; normally, the vehicles travel at 700kph, of which is already quite fast. But what if you need to get that tiny bit faster to win? The solution is a boost-on-demand system that pushes the engine's beyond normal operating levels for three seconds, giving you a decent speed boost to get past your opponent. However, by doing so, the engines heat up a bit. Don't boost too much... ;)
    - The condition of your vehicle is vital; the higher it is, the faster you go, and a perfect vehicle (aka. the initial state) yields the highest speeds possible. The following lowers the condition of your vehicle:
    • Bumping into other vehicles. (This has one exception, as detailed in the next point)
    • Engine fires. this can be caused by either overheating or running into a dead vehicle. Certain track hazards can cause this as well.
    • Running into obstacles. The faster you're go... the more your vehicle gets damaged on contact.
If the condition reaches 0 (aka. no green dial) then the vehicle blows up and that's game over!
    - By running into opponents, you can lower their condition, but in normal circumstances, this will also lower your own. HOWEVER: If you're boosting and your run into an opponent, then they suffer double the damage, and you suffer none to your vehicle, making this a viable attack method.
    - Around the course are plasma electrodes and small repair stations. Plasma electrodes boost your speed (But DO NOT cause the engines to heat up, keep this in mind when you have a hot engine!) while repair stations make repairs to your vehicle. However, if your vehicle is deemed in good enough condition, a repair station is nothing other than a fancy gate to pass through. Two things will cause a repair gate's tractor beam to activate, and that is if:
    1. your vehicle's suffering from an engine fire, or
    2. your condition is lower than about 90%
    - Every lap, if your vehicle is in good enough condition, you get a special attack. Use these wisely, as missing a target with any of these will damage your vehicle.

Anyway, feel free to throw any ideas in here. :) Would like to hear the community's opinions and ideas on what kind of tracks should be in a game like this one. :)

And one more thing too; I AM NOT ASKING FOR DESIGNS! Keep this in mind before posting anything.

EDIT: Oh bugger... @hippocoder, can you please move this into general discussion? :D
