    How can i fix this:

    i found a solution that Works for me. restart unity. and i can build once, if i build a second times it comes and i must restart again. then i tried turn off antivirus. restart unity, and it dissapeared. maybe just a tempoarly solution.
    It happend With me after i downloaded the newest java, not sure if thats the case.

    I've filed bug 586928 about this.

    We use McAfee, and turning off the real-time scanning provides a short-term workaround to this issue as mentioned by frefr92 above.

    Yeah it has to do something with protections on the temp directory the new unity is using. McAfee doesn't like them.

    Is there any way to tell McAfee to allow this operation without turning off real time scanning? I would like to keep my scanning on while I use Unity.

    You are welcome to of course, but I think all that support will tell you is that this is an issue that appears to be related to anti-virus tools looking the mdb file to poke about it whilst Unity wants to write to it. Whitelisting the Unity project folders is the recommended solution.

    Have you any Idea on how to do this with McAfee? I have looked through thier interface and there are no options in which you can choose "Folders".

    Why doesn't unity wait for file access? Like all the other software (development apps included) I am currently using?

    NOTE: Unity 3 didn't have any problems - It started happening when I upgraded about a month ago

    I use MSE and disabled it but am still getting the access denied errors.

    The only way to fix it is by restarting Unity.

    My project folder is synced onto my Google Drive account and I have a strong feeling it is temporarily locking files while unity is trying to read it. I'd rather not disable my synced project as it serves as an awesome automatic backup in-case crap hits the fan. There is currently no way in the Google Drive application to disable specific folders from syncing (which I would have tried) so I guess this will just be a real productivity killer for now :(


    Edit: The current workaround is to just "Pause" your google drive while working and "Resume" when you're done for the day.

    I realize this is an old post, but I thought I'd share how I resolved the issue on an Windows 8.1 machine.

    Adding the Assembly file to the Exclude list within McAfee did nothing to solve the issue for me, not even temporarily; however, the problem disappeared after I ran Unity as Administrator in Windows 8.1.

    I don't have antivirus - Windows 7, Visual Studio 2015 - same issue. Need to modify any c# file, save, wait for rebuild to try again. Sometimes it helps, but next time i modify code I have this issue again and need to try this boring sequence again

    Unity 5 - More than 2 years later. SAME PROBLEM ( on Windows 10, not using McAffee, but AVast anti virus).
    Unity 5 crashes a lot - and very regularly with access-denied or other file-access errors.
    Exit unity & restart seems the only fix.
