I recently upgraded to Unity 5.1.3p2 and to Oculus runtime 0.7, along with the newest Nvidia driver 355.84, and since I've been getting this strange shadow rendering behaviour when running with VR enabled in Unity. I thought it might have been due to calibration problems, but re-calibrating using the Oculus utility didn't help. Furthermore, the strange shadow rendering is visible on my monitor as well as on the Rift. See the screenshots for what I mean:

The shadow edges are visible in your peripheral vision when wearing the Rift.

It was present on both Unity projects I tested with. They were created in 5.1.2f1 and 5.1.3p1.

    Here are my system specs:
    Windows 7 64-bit
    Intel Xeon CPU E5-2637 v3 @ 3.50GHz
    64 GB ram
Nvidia Quadro K5200 & Quadro K4200 with driver version 355.84
    Oculus Runtime 0.7
    Display Driver Version: 1.2.7.0
    Positional Tracker Driver Version: 1.0.11.0
    Unity 5.1.3p2

Just upgraded to Unity 5.2 and the problem persists. Can anyone confirm seeing this?

Just upgraded to Unity 5.2.1f1 and the problem persists. This is in a new project with only standard assets and the single room model imported. NewVRArtifacts5.2.1.png

When creating a new project, everything is fine, looks like something is happening during the process

That looks like a different issue to me. You're seeing that in the editor, correct? I've never seen any problems with the shadows in the editor, only when running the game. You might want to start your own thread if the problem persists.

    Hi @ZefanS

We have reproduced the issue in 5.2.1f1

But we CANNOT reproduce the issue in an alpha build of 5.3. I will speak to the devs about backporting the change to a patch in 5.2. Otherwise, it will be fixed in 5.3.

Will update once I get more info on the change.

I've seen this in both editor game mode and in the standalone build.

@williamj Hooray! Good news, good news.
