Specular Gloss/Roughness from Diffuse

    Hi all,

    Just wondering if it's possible to 'hack' a decent specular gloss map from the diffuse texture?
    I was thinking of maybe using the luminance from the diffuse texture as a rough gloss map?
    I could have sworn I read something about doing something similar to this somewhere on the internets, but I can't find it for the life of me..

    I do have a tester up and running, but just after any other constructive ideas or references :)

    Decent? Possibly. Actually good? I doubt it.

    I think the best you'll get is using Substance Bitmap to Material 3, which has a Diffuse > PBR pipeline.

    Ultimately, it's something you'll want to do by hand for the best results.
