    Greetings from Wales!

Ben Tester here from Wales Interactive showcasing our sci-fi adventure game, Soul Axiom. It was a little hard to decide whether to post this in the WIP thread as it is available to buy now on Early Access with its full PC, Mac & Linux release in a couple of months' time. Expect the console release during Q4 2015.

I'll leave you with some of the game details below along with the trailer. Please let us know your thoughts and feel free to join in on the Early Access with the links below.

We're currently working on a new trailer for Gamescom Cologne and we're also in the middle of upgrading the engine from Unity 4 to 5.

You can find us around a prominent stand which, unfortunately, we can't actually announce just yet due to an NDA agreement. You can get in touch with us closer to the date to find out what stand or follow our Facebook/Twitter for notifications.

Feel free to drop me a line at ben[at]walesinteractive.com whenever. Cheers!

Here's a couple of GIF's to show off some of the game. The first being the front end menu followed by one showing the first power you collect. It's called the 'Phase' power and essential materializes and de-materializes objects, meaning you can walk through them or have other objects pass through them. This is just 1 of 3 powers available in the game now with a 4th power to come very soon!

Hope you all like what you see and if you have any questions, just give me a shout!

We are currently in the process of upgrading from Unity 4 to Unity 5 and have come across more of a delay than expected. If anyone has been following the development you'll know we've been releasing one level every 1-2 weeks but due to the long delay with the upgrade we have a couple of levels due to come out at once. Here's a couple of sneak previews into the upcoming levels!

Please leave your comments or questions below :)

    Cheers,
    Ben

    Greetings to the Unity community!!

A few weeks' back I posted an announcement here and on Steam stating we’re upgrading the game engine from Unity 4 to Unity 5. If you haven’t seen that, you can click this link. Updating the engine has required us to completely overhaul every level and steps have been made to improve a number of aspects of the game which would have caused problems with the old engine. Because of this it has taken us a little longer than expected but it just means the final game will be a much improved version.

We are now happy to announce we’re very close to the end and have planned to release the new content next week.

We will make a detailed announcement of all the cool new features as well as bug fixes and general game upgrades when the update is complete but expect the main improvements on the surface of the game to be within the lighting, shaders, audio and general frame rate. Note that your hand powers will now illuminate areas that are intended to be dark. On top of this we’ll also be releasing the much awaited final levels of Chapter Four!

Here’s a few screenshots to show off some of the progress in the earlier levels…

    Gamescom 2015 & New Trailer

It’s finally confirmed we’ll be taking Soul Axiom to Gamescom Cologne 2015! More top secret news will be coming soon with regards to this event so keep your eyes open for that as well as a brand new trailer. The trailer will feature a lot of unseen footage so you won’t want to miss it. Be warned… it’s cool, really cool!

Thank you all again for your patience with this update and we hope you’re all looking forward to completing Chapter Four!

Don’t forget if you want to support the game then you can leave a Steam review on the store page or share the game with your friends. Feel free to share any of our updates on our Facebook and Twitter also.

If you have any questions just get involved on the forum or get in touch at support[at]walesinteractive.com.

    Cheers!

    Greetings all!

The Wales Interactive team are back to release the Unity 5 update we’ve been working on for the past couple of months. You may have gathered from our previous update, upgrading a game engine mid-development is never an easy thing to do but it’s a decision we had to go ahead with to ensure we’d get the right outcome when releasing the final version of the game.

You can visit the Steam page here here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/279900/

So, this update brings you all the Unity 5 updates listed below and a brand new level to get stuck into as well as our brand new story trailer which I'll post following this update.

Note: We’ve rolled out the PC version of this update today with Mac and Linux versions closely following next week. We'll also be releasing more content from Chapter Four next week so stay tuned.

    • Say your prayers as you explore the latest addition to Chapter Four, the Church! Make your way through the graveyard and find the entrance to the hidden crypt. Who’s memory are you exploring? Find out by collecting all 4 PEMO’s hidden within the church grounds.
    • Check out all the new features from the Unity 5 update including new enhanced colour correction in various levels, new global illumination system, improved tone mapping, reflection probes, enhancements and even more bloom! On top of the visual improvements we’re now working with a new physics system, new control mapping system and completely overhauled our audio system.
    • Some cutscenes have been updated but please note we’ll be continuing to update previous cutscenes as we currently have voice actors working on dialogue for all memories. These updates will be implemented along with other narrative updates in the coming weeks.

    What's New?

Hello everyone! We’re back with another update containing two brand new levels, the last of Chapter Four, a new animated performance and a sneak peek into Chapter Five! Please note this update is for PC and Linux (Linux build now fixed) and doesn’t include the Mac build. We’ll be working as fast as we can in getting out the Mac build!

[*] Explore the decks of the Space Station and search for the keys to your escape route! Play your favourite game of Horsepocalypse in the Recreation Room and discover what new, state-of-the-art technology the Winter Corporation have developed in your PEMO hunting.

[*] Our second level released today is the Winter HQ! Here you’ll take a trip through memory lane and learn all about the history and development surrounding the Winter Corporation. Master Reboot fans may spot some friendly names, faces… and beaks here! Please note: we are aware of an issue with the light probes causing a disco ball effect in the level, we'll be patching this for the next update along with other texture, shader and prop improvements.

[*] We’ve been doing our handy work on Elysian Fields again and replaced the first Angel animation with a bigger and better animated performance in the church! It even features some voice overs from one of our new voice actors (If you missed the announcement before, we’re revamping all of our cutscenes with new animation, new visuals and voice overs!)

    Additional bug fixes and improvements

    - Lowered the difficulty of the Ice Palace Zodiac puzzle.

    - Fixed various collision issues causing you to either get stuck or be thrown into the sky in the Church level.
    - Fixed certain shaders not displaying the Play highlight.
    - Fixed issues that were completely black and not showing the Play hint in the Mansion level.
    - Added new SFX to improve the flow of the start of the Mansion level.
    - Minor improvements to textures and particles in War Zone.
    - Fixed an issue causing the camera to clip through windows in the Church.

This would be a great time to give you guys a sneak peek into what to expect in the next update with the screenshot below!

Hi everyone! We’re back with the long-awaited Chapter Five update! First of all we’d like to apologise for the delay on this one, certain commitments for EGX pushed back the release date but we’re back on track now. We’re glad to say that EGX was a big result for us, with Nintendo featuring the game on their stand which is a huge achievement for us. We were right in there with some of the biggest games around and to our delight, Soul Axiom was one of the most asked after game in the Nindies section on the Nintendo stand.

So, with this update comes the fourth and final power! We also have three new locations to explore to get your new power and a further four new levels! Though, these aren’t levels as you’d expect them so read on to find out more…

NOTE TO THE COMMUNITY: We are looking for feedback on the Corrupt tutorial in the Tree Of Life level. Please get back to us with your thoughts on this and what you got from it. Did it take you long to get to grips with what you had to do and what the different Corrupt nodes do? If it’s possible and if you’d really like to take your support one step further, we would love to see a video playthrough of everything from the Forest levels to finishing the Zero levels. As little or as much of that would be extremely beneficial for us. No commentary needed either, we’d just like to see how you got on.

[*] Say hello to your brand new hand ability, the Corrupt power! You’ll notice the portals have now opened to both the Good and Evil Forest, make your way through these areas to unlock your new power. With this you’ll act as a conduit for the energy beams and will also grant you access to all the new Corrupt Zero levels.

[*] We’ve brought you 4 of the 12 Zero levels in this update which you’ll gain access to with your new power. However, you’ll have to hunt for these levels first. Remember those strange objects you’ve spotted around the place? (Which has now been redesigned) Well, you better remember where you saw them! Don’t worry if you haven’t, we’ve left you clues in the Trophy Room. NOTE: These levels are designed to be smaller and more dangerous than what you’ve experienced so far. There will be no PEMO’s but there will be video cutscenes to follow.

[*] We’ve made a bunch of improvements throughout the game and have more significant ones coming up. You’ll notice we have improved the hologram animations and voice recording. We’re still working on improving all the cutscenes with voice acting and we will release once all the animation is complete.

[*] We’ve completely overhauled the menu system for a number of reasons, mainly for lag reasons and also to improve the stability of editing the key binding in-game. NOTE: Whilst all the background work has been implemented, we are currently working on improving the design of the menu so stay tuned for that. We have also noticed a minor bug causing one of the option to be highlighted by the cursor, we’ll get this fixed ASAP.

    Known Issues and WIP
    - Improvements to the machine gun SFX in Warzone Zero.
    - Implement memory cutscenes.
    - Improvements to the Play aim area on the Corrupt Cube in Beach.
    - Improvements to the Corrupt tutorial (We’re looking for your feedback on this!)
    - Visual improvements to the Corrupt Console in the Trophy Room.

    Major Bug Fixes and Improvements
    - Toggle Crouch option added (Keyboard & controller)
    - Toggle Sprint option added (Keyboard & controller)
    - Fixed an issue causing the game to freeze in the options menu.
    - SFX added and improvements throughout the game.
    - Improved texture pass in some areas throughout the game.
    - Improved Corrupt textures.
    - Improved VFX on Angel cutscene in Elysian Fields.
    - New layout for Chapter 4 Tiers in HUB to move Winter HQ to the highest Tier.

    Minor Bug Fixes and Improvements
    - Fixed an issue with the walls in Apartment staying solid blue
    - Various issues fixed causing power hints and highlights to not show on some objects.
    - Improved animation on the girls in Mansion.
    - Improved the water pipe indicator in Beach.
    - Improved minor assets in Space Station.
    - Improved the scale of the pickup icons.
    - Lightmaps improved in Winter HQ.
    - Issue fixed causing props to turn blue or red in some levels.
    - Improved lightmaps in Space Station.
    - Fixed some black artifacts in some levels.
    - Issue with the cursor highlighting a menu option.

We hope you enjoy playing through with the new content in this update! If you would like to further support the game then please help us by leaving a review on the store page or sharing the game page/trailer. Don't forget you can always join us on Twitter or Facebook.

    - We’ve been promising a revamp on all the memory cutscenes and it’s now here! As well as implementing the brand new memories for Space Station, Winter HQ and all 8 Zero levels, the videos come complete with all new voice acting, updated animations/SFX and a “memory incomplete” prompt at the end… we hope you like them! We’ll start a Story Thread in the Discussions page and we’d really appreciate all your feedback and thoughts on the story so far. Let us know what you think is happening, what’s clear or less clear and even how you think the story will unfold at the end.

    - We’ve done a total SFX pass as well as updated the visuals in the Ice Palace and Ship level. You may also notice that there’s been some movement with the PEMOs. Some of them have had their content updated and some have been re-hidden, if you’ve collected the PEMOs already then you won’t find much notice.

Hey Alice, thank you so much for your comments :) We have a team of around 12 working on this and we're almost at the end! The game is a lot bigger than we first anticipated and now we're almost content complete with some polishing up visually and mechanically after. Once released on Steam we'll begin porting to PS4, Xbox One and Wii U.

Today’s update is packed full of more visual improvements on the Zero levels and more plus a new PEMO pickup update!

    What’s New?

    - Revisit all the current Zero levels to find a new, darker and more coherent Corrupt visual style!

    - The Space Station level has received its makeover with a complete overhaul of the visuals! We’ve also added an entire new ending to the level so don’t forget to check that out! Please Note: There will be heavy performance issues with this level at the moment. We have a major optimisation pass to come which will significantly increase the FPS.

    - PEMO hunters can now find any of the monkey’s they have already collected in a level as they are now visually indicating whether you’ve picked them up previously or not. We’ve played around with some of the locations (even in this update with the Space Station) so it’s now easier to update any Monkey PEMO guides.

    - We’ve now started up the Official Story Thread where you can discuss all things story related. We’re really looking for interaction on this thread so any contribution is much appreciated by the dev team :)

    Bug Fixes and Improvements
    - Fixed a shader issue with the potion puzzle portals in Mansion
    - New hologram prompts after Zero completions in the Hub.
    - Fixed an issue causing the Ice Palace chess puzzle to complete in just a couple of moves.
    - Fixed an issue with an achievement in Hospital Zero not unlocking.
    - Fixed the colour issues on the Jungle Zero puzzle
    - Added Corrupt Console hints to Hub for every level.
    - Made the crows easier to Phase when they’re close to you in Mansion Zero.

We hope you enjoy playing through with the new content in this update! If you would like to further support the game then please help us by leaving a review on the store page or sharing the game page/trailer. Don't forget you can always join us on Twitter or Facebook.

Hey Zen! Apologies for not responding to sooner on this. We do indeed have plans for VR support for the game, though it won't be for the 1.0 release unfortunately as we'll be focusing our efforts on that at a later date.

After developing Infinity Runner, we've always wanted to check out the VR support on a slower paced to game and as the genre suits it well, we're really excited to do it :)

Hi everyone! Here's a quick update on how the development is going...

As you might be aware this next update has taken a lot longer than expected. The reason being we were forced to update the game engine because of a bug which made it impossible for us to continue developing on. Unfortunately, the engine update broke a lot of animations and materials in the process so we've been working hard on fixing those. Also, we've completely overhauled each level with our biggest optimisation pass throughout the game and so you should see a significant increase in FPS.

As well as FPS improvements, you'll also find huge changes to the lighting in many levels plus extra animations, gameplay tweaks and story hints throughtout the game. Not forgetting you'll also have the final installment to get stuck in to.

The content will be coming your way next week so keep an eye out for the next announcement.

Thank you all for sticking with us and we hope you're looking forward to the next update. We're so close to the end now and we can't wait to bring a content complete game to you all.

    =)

    Greetings Everybody!

We're back with a brand new update featuring new visual and gameplay content and our biggest optimisation and lighting pass to date!

If you missed our last announcement then follow this link where we announced the recent engine upgrade and explained why we rebuilt the level lighting from the ground up which has given the game a whole new bunch of benefits.

    What's New?

    Optimisation

Our biggest result of the update is the overall framerate throughout the entire game. Depending on what system spec you're running, you should notice a big difference in framerate and shouldn't experience any sudden drops in areas in the game. This is still a work-in-progress and we have found new ways to increase the FPS so expect to see more improvement after the game is content complete. We’re aiming for 60 FPS with most levels and are already hitting those targets in some. If you experience any further framerate drops then let us know in the bugs forum.

    Visual Improvements

The force behind the huge optimisation pass was down to completely rebuilding the lighting and improving shader work in all chapters of the game. Some levels will have subtle changes whilst others will have had a complete makeover. You’ll notice some levels are now darker and this is because we’ve increased the glow from your powers which you can use to light up your surroundings and essentially act as a torch.
Some of the more noticeable levels that have visually been improved include Ice Palace, Church, Space Station, Mansion and University. Check out the new animated werewolves in the Mansion and new and improved gargoyles in the Church! We’ve also gone through and updated various textures and props to keep it in line with the rest of the game.

    Chapter Six

We had intended to release part of Chapter Six with this update but have agreed to spend more time on polishing the entire ending to be released in our next update. In January, the game will be content complete and a date will be announced to flip the Early Access switch. We've be working full gas over Christmas to get Chapter Six up to a standard that we’re happy to release with.
