I ran across a thread with a discussion on shaders that were used in maya then waht it looked like in UE4. The object of discussion looked WAYYYY different when in the UE4. My question is, Should I do my shading in maya or in unity for my model. Also if I do my shading in maya, will I loose my shaders on my model when I import them into unity? thanks for any insight, as I don't want to waste time in maya if the shaders don't carry over to unity correctly

They don't carry over well enough. Blinn and Laphernt yeah, but not the others really, unless you are using Substance.
Do you proper UV mapping in Maya and then use Unity for the shaders.
