I can model basic stuff, but for characters I've found free models on the asset store. Since this is a free project which I'm not planning on spending money on, I can't hire a modeler nor plan on hiring one.
Yeah my thoughts exactly, I understand that smaller projects are good for learning. But when I first decided to start game dev I looked around for game engines. I found unity and saw some pretty incrediable things made with unity. Since then I've always wanted to make scenes that I've seen made with unity, I've come a long way since if you take a look at the beginnings of even just this thread the visual quality has improved by a lot. Since the beginning of using unity well that's the difference of two worlds. I've also wanted to make a game that I would personally like because games are expensive, I remember the days when I would use to go online to download game demos and play adobe flash games. I also wanted to share it with the community as I would make progress. So I've also done that I know that most people aren't expecting much but in the end I'll make something I can enjoy, and hopefully something the community can enjoy too.

I still remain skeptic, but it's your life.. and you are putting a lot of effort into the project, so good luck!

Thanks! And I do want you all to know I realize that there's a great chance that this will never finish, but if I don't finish it now I do intend to finish it when I have enough resources, and people. So maybe 20 years later. Wow. That's even surprising to me. But for now I do intend to make the multiplayer, and the first few levels.

I personally think that the water pic is the best, after all tilt shift makes it look real nice.

    On top of the plateau.
    Next to the water

    Looking across the open plateau

It's looking much better. Bring up the brightness of the ambient lighting a little though. Bounced light means lighter shadows.

Looking really good. For the grass textures you should choose clamp instead of repeat in the advanced texture import settings. Should help with any edge anomalies.

Yes, if you put the textures in clamp mode you will get rid of those awful borders on the top of the textures.
It's getting good, and you are not the only one that is learning something , for example i didn't know about the bounce lightning, so thanks.

I've tried that but it doesn't seem to fix it, however it seems that placing a texture next to a detail mesh in the inspectors causes the lines.

Looking really nice:). I know you are sick of hearing this but I think you need to lower the blue a little more. Other than that, which is not as bad, this is looking awesome.

Your lighting is still off yes, but it's looking better. What will you do once your Pro trial expires?

I guess use Unity Indie until Unity 5 pro trial, which I am also jumping on immediately:). After that there is more Indie.

Yeah I have the pro trial until 9/15 but I'm only using the pro image effects, no linear lighting, hdr or anything else. So without image effects it looks like the editor picture although a little better. However I will use indie effects for image effect once the trial expires.

    I enjoy this thread.
Not for the drama but there's people actually throwing up tutorials to help Eris2241.

To Eric, did you play Star Craft?
    I mean the first one.
Just look how long the development of Star Craft 2?
So don't feel bad about how long you spend time on your project.
    That's just mean you're perfectionist.
    Just do it. \m/

Few suggestions though, about game mechanics you can always just do a purchase of existing framework.
    It will save more time.
Time is money, so don't hesitate to save some money to spend on your project.

Mark those assets into your wish list.

Sometimes you can negotiate some sponsorship from friends and family if you show them how enthusiast you are in this project.

Cool I'll look into that however I probably won't accept a deal involving money because I don't plan on making anything off of this. Also no I have not played starcraft.

Here is my first thing from the project I'm uploading; it is the light setup I have used for my game. It is easily tweakable as it's using the unity directional lighting.

Do you want to team up? We could get this done way faster, maybe we can finally get gameplay done and stop making this a Unity3D benchmark.

If you are interested in my offer please reply.

If you are indeed interested in my offer, i will need to know.
What i want to know is the following "What kind of game in this?" What are you aiming for with a openworld fps rpg? This sight is unusual, good combination if done right. About your ai, what where you planning to achieve having these ai roaming? In a rpg you need leveling up, items, inventory? What are you aiming for ?

Alittle back story on the RPG GENRE, usually people do not do open world RPG designed like this, skyrim is actually designed in certain way, this level's here will be more of a survival game type scenario. We might have to redesign certain points and characteristics. We need cinamtics, with the opinionated story... Than our player will roam around figuring out what to do.

Heh I find this post quite funny because of 2 reasons.
    1. how will he be able to be intressted in a offer that dosnt tell him what it gives? for example are you a concept artist, modeler, texturer, progammer etc.
    2. this type of requests would probably be posted in private messages instead.

Yeah sure we could team up though a team server would be needed and as I don't plan on having or acquiring venture capital one would need to help fund for one or find a free alternative. The story will be more of a prologue with a goal in mind, it won't be very structured. So more or less choose your own path. The ai should be able to be done through rain, for example the system will spawn a certain amount of ai based on a few parameters such as nation strength or manpower. Then it will set a target destination of a city or outpost which will be randomized. As for the rpg elements that will take more time to create. Also I'm a 9th grade student with about 5 hours of hw per night give or take one hour, with about 3 or so hours of extra curricular work thrown in there per night so that leaves maybe 3 hours per week of unity game development.

I think its 2000,2000 or so but I split them into fourths. So 500,500 so 250000 sq m.
I'll try to upload this to a mirror, do you go to a boarding school?

Nope, it's your not-so-standard high school. (I say not-so-standard because of the amazing IT courses there! :p)
Basically, I can view them at home, just not here at school. And yes, a mirror, like Google Drive would be great. (Dropbox blocked too, so that's out)

EDIT: You just posted a link, thanks!

    HOLY COW.

I presume you're using the image bloom, right? If so, those would have to be the prettiest scenes using my bloom shader!

EDIT: Isn't this using the pro trial? in that case, ignore my above comment! :d
