"Regal Obsidian": Dark Color Scheme / Theme for MonoDevelop

I've been using the default Monokai color scheme for a little over a year now, and thought I needed a change. I spent the day (color schemes take much longer than I thought to make!!) making Regal Obsidian.

I started with Son of Obsidian (https://studiostyl.es/schemes/son-of-obsidian), hence the name, but eventually strayed pretty far from it. I also was influenced by Sublime Text's Soda Theme. (https://sublime.wbond.net/packages/Theme - Soda).

The idea for this theme was low-contrast, comforting colors to keep you from getting a headache during those day-long programming sessions.

I definitely recommend using Semantic Highlighting with this color scheme, but it's still functional without it.

To use this theme go to MonoDevelop Preferences > Text Editor > Syntax Highlighting > Add

Yikes, I don't think so. I'm pretty far detached from Monodevelop these days. Hopefully they'll have a converter or something?

 

I just couldn't get used to any of the default themes so I tweaked one of the presets to look as close to Trof's original scheme as I could remember.

Hello there! I just saw this and i tried what you said to install it but it does not accept .xml files for syntax highlighting.Any ideas?

I went through the hassle of adjusting Mono to be dark for my syntax. Can't say the same for the UI yet, but if it comes to it I will write my own. Anyway, I have the mono editor black, easier on the eyes, and tried to keep it familiar color wise. At any cost, much of it is already done, and you would only need to tweak here and there for your needs. I had to upload the file as a.txt because the site doesn't allow .json file uploads. So, rename it to .json and try it out. As a side note, I also used WinAeroTweaker to get my windows 10 toned back a bit. That's a free one but does some appreciable things.
