Post has been awaiting moderation for about 5 days?

Hey guys!
I'm fairly new to Unity, so I asked a question in 'answers'. Now, as soon as I posted my question, a yellow message pops up at the top that says, "This post is currently awaiting moderation. If you believe this to be in error, contact a system administrator."

I assume it's an error, as it has been 5 days, so I'd like to contact a system administrator. Would someone tell me how to do that? I have looked without much luck!

PM me the answers number and I'll take a look. I spend a bit of time every day doing moderation, so can only assume your question isn't in a strange state.

my 8 minutes ago post is also suffering from this, what i do?

 

Posts can take a couple of days for the volunteer mods to reach them.

If you have more then 15 karma you can get off the mod queue completely. Why not go answer a couple of other questions? It's only a couple of upvotes to get you out of moderation forever.

Edit: Just checked the queue. It's at 150 questions and four days old now. I'll go knock a few questions off now.

I also got the moderator approval message when I tried to post some hours ago. All other posts before that were fine. I am also new to the community.

 

Do you have 15 karma? Otherwise, it needs to be manually approved by a moderator.

Well if your post is "Please moderate this after 5 days" - then surely you can't complain that it's awaiting moderation for 5 days? 0_0

 

I've moved your question to the Help Room. This is where newer user should post basic question and posts there don't have a karma bar(15 in normal space) to post without moderation.

All moderators on Answers are volunteers, so please be patient.

I think we're kinda seeing the limits of the Unity Answers format being reached. Most of the people using answers are going to be beginners who just don't have the karma to skip the moderation queue and there aren't enough moderators to go around at the moment.

 

We're not seeing the limits of the format so much as we're seeing the limits of a purely volunteer workforce. I have to wonder if we wouldn't have been better served with an official wiki rather than an answers system which only serves to take people away from the forums where they would have received assistance much more quickly.

 

There are plenty of moderators. Hell, you only need 1,000 karma (which is ridiculously low). There is just no motivation for anyone to do it.

Question doesn't exist. It was likely rejected as I was in the queue yesterday and the oldest question was from two days ago.

 

One of the main issues with moderating on Answers now is that some drastic changes were made a couple of years ago, and the fairly decent mod tools were replaced with completely worthless mod tools. Promises were made that things would be fixed, but not a single thing has been changed there since then. Any sort of modding beyond just mass approving everything is a nightmare clickfest. Answers is in need of some serious attention but it's just being allowed to devolve into a useless mess.

 

Which is very likely a good thing considering what happened when they tried to change their website.

 

The problem is that they *did* roll out changes, and then left it in a horrible state.

Not to jump on the band wagon here, but I have a question that's been in moderation for over a week (8 days now). Its kind of a time sensitive issue for a client, or I wouldn't be worried about it.

You wouldn't believe the amount of terrible posts in there.

 

Yeah, I can't log into it from home but can at work. Whatever they mucked up with the accounts a few months ago has never been fully resolved.

 

Create a thread in the appropriate section of the forums. You'll almost always receive an answer long before you get past Unity Answers moderation. Seriously if anything takes over a week to moderate that's usually a good sign it is dead in the water.

Have to admit I'm not surprised they're switching it off as they clearly won't invest any resources in paid moderation staff.

If volunteer moderators weren't being motivated enough to allow legitimate posts through then I don't see how they expect them to be motivated enough to delete the spam that will inevitably pour into Unity Answers.

The question is still coming through as awaiting moderation, so I've posted my question in the forum. Hopefully I can get some traction there instead. Thanks for the assistance folks. Unity does seem to have a little work left to do smoothing Answers out a little bit. Though if by "dead in the water" you mean it was denied, I do have to wonder why based on the content of the question.

 

There were 10 items in the mod queue five minutes ago; doesn't seem to be working.

Post-moderation is still a thing, so content may be getting sent back manually to the queue to get reviewed, which would explain why there are posts in the queue from time to time.
