Perforce Unicode support/URL format

    Hi,

I setup the user and logging works fine for me (p4 login). As repository URL I simply used the server:1666 format.

However I get the following error: Repo is not accessible. Please check your URL and repo settings.

This error occurs on the second step (when entering username and password).

Does this mean the URL format is wrong (the FAQ does not tell anything about it, https://build.cloud.unity3d.com/support/guides/sourcecontrol), or are unicode-enabled perforce server unsupported?

    Kind Regards
    Felix

Hi @flxk - ok, thanks for letting us know.

That is correct: at this time we do not support unicode-enabled Perforce servers. I'll add this to our Source Control Guide.

Hopefully we'll be able to find a fix or workaround for this issue in the future. If anyone else reading this thread has the same problem, please leave us a comment here.

+1 for me. I'm able to log in using P4V, but UCB is giving me the same error message as flxk.

    Server: perforce.assembla.com:1666

@hypeNate is there any update on this situation? I asked Assembla support, where we host our Perforce server, and unfortunately they cannot change the server's unicode setting. So it looks like, until UCB supports unicode-enabled servers, we are unable to use this service.

    Hi @cha4les and @skalev,

Thanks for bumping this issue. We're planning on looking into this further in the near future. Can you both file support tickets with your repo url syntax (doesn't have to be the exact URL, just something showing us how it is structured, port number, etc)? This might help us in planning this feature.

    it is a simple url

    perforce.assembla.com:1666

the system recognizes the server and the host, but cannot connect

    There was an error:
Repo is not accessible. Please check your URL and repo settings.

    *Update - I've created a ticket.

@skalev - presumably it is using https:// syntax as well?

i tried both with and without.

Note that if i put in https:// in the beginning of the URL, after the error, when clicking the link to edit your URL, it is stripped of the protocol.

if you need any other info from assembla, let me know, i can talk to their support team as well

@hypeNate I'm using Assembla as well, so my URL format is the same as @skalev.

Is there anyway to get Cloud Build to work with a Perforce depot hosted on Assembla?

Currently, it is not possible to use Assembla as a Perforce hosting provider, as it requires two currently unsupported features of a Perforce instance (setting of P4HOST and Unicode support). We are actively working to support new SCM features, but there is no ETA available for when these features will be put in place to support using Perforce via Assembla.

I will be sure to post here when there is any more information to share.
