Videos speak louder than words I'm in the final months of development, and knee deep in the marketing campaign. Tough time but so fulfilling to almost reach my goal of completing my first title!
It is going well so far. I'm working on the mobile build now and am testing it out with the new controls. Some time in early October I will hopefully have a demo build out which will help garner buzz for it. Marketing is tough!
Thanks Raven! I'm rolling into the last month of development and working extensively on the mobile build now. It runs great on mobile thanks to some early optimization I did. I'm lining up distribution options now and building my final months marketing plan. I should have an online web based demo available by early to mid October. I'm certainly in the crunch period!
Thanks! Originally I wanted to build in some elements of science in the hopes players might learn something while playing. It also makes it a lot easier when I don't have to come up with my own level names.
The little things are what grab me into a game. I really like the buffing tower (if that's what it is?) animation where it sends 1's and 0's to the other towers. I like the trailer as well. It's very well put together. My only gripe is probably the tiles with text aren't super differentiable from the others of the same color of a different type (I assume those are where you're not allowed to place towers, so they have some functional purpose?). That's probably just a personal UX taste though.
I've heard that same feedback from a few testers actually. I'm likely going to add some shading to the 'walls' which are the elements you see in the level so that it is easier to differentiate between open grid spaces and wall spaces. The buffing towers are really cool and you are spot on by identifying them! I'm planning on releasing a web demo of the game around the same time I launch it. The final stretch is exciting!
The final push. Thankfully Android has a fast track to get games to market! If you are an Android user you can find it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.icedvision.particleshield
Oh it is! Haha, if you can get 100 downloads (i think - correct me if i'm wrong) in the first 30 days you get into the top new games section on Google Play - that should give you some good free publicity! I'll download it now to help out
Nice! I was unaware of that that, but would be glad to see if it is true! The Android version went live on October 29th, so I still have time. I a at 41 downloads already so almost half way there! <-Active military so help out for Veterans Day! Woot!
Completely agree with you there! I am filling out the Made With Unity information now to help show what can be built even with the older versions (I released the game with 4.6).
