    Office Survival Game

    I have started a campaign to fund my new game "Office Survival".

    Campaign link: http://igg.me/at/officesurvival

    It will be based on my already implemented Unity game template "Isometric Shooter" (http://u3d.as/8c9).

    Progress updates will follow with every next step of development.

    Kind regards.

    The game will have a comic style based on regular office people like this:

    The final style will be more like in the above screenshot of the inital thread posting.

    I think you should have held off on starting a kickstarter this early.

    Thank you for your feedback. I have a specific plan and a concept as well as the basic template. So in fact almost all tools i need to start and a good feeling to get the game done in time.

    But i would appreciate any feedback and advice to proceed even better.

    Thanks for the feedback. It may be too early, but at least worth the experience. However, i will keep up the work. It just would certainly be a lot easier with funding.

    Thanks! What i do not really understand is, that there are campaigns with exactly no benefit for the supporters, like "i need a PS4, because i am a poor girl / boy". And there some supporters spending loads of money. A weird world we are living in :).

    dojoman, your question is very correct. Sadly, crowdfunding is not about dreams come true, is about selling your game. The moment you are ready to be businessman and less of a game developer, you can go ahead with KS.
    Check out the successful campaigns, but most important check out the failed ones. Look at the differences. You will understand that bakers (like humans in general) are driven by these three things:
    1. hype (project is heavily under mass media spotlight)
    2. emotional involvement (either project reminds them of childhood games or particular periods of their life)
    3. well known track record, this is the rare case when you have a team made up by industry veterans with a good track record of completing games and have lots of fans.

    What do you expect from an in-game start menu? Here is a draft of mine.

    My intention was to show a tiny city scene around an office building (more details have to be added).

    I was kind of expecting DayZ meets Office Space

    But it was fun anyways. :p

    Thanks :) It is certainly a very early stage. It will get more like DayZ, when you will have an inventory, quests and smarter enemies. I will post next version of prototype soon.

    Funny prototype you have here :D
    my only problem is that i seemed to have a lot of fps lags...Is there something in the background slowing down
    gameplay? or is it just my PC?

    I am sorry to hear that :confused: but I can't see any lags here on my PC (Win7, i7 @3,6Ghz, GFX 670, 16 GB RAM). Could you determine a specific situation where you get those lags?

    Notice how movement is about twice the speed while holding 2 axis? Ex: Vertical+ and Horizontal+? You movement needs to be normalized so all directions move at the same speed. At the moment while holding down you are adding +1, however while holding down and right you are adding +1 and +1, when you should actually be adding +0.5f and +0.5f. Get what I mean? Heres a fix to that... Normalize the input.

    Code (CSharp):
    1. void Update(){
    2.     float h = Input.GetAxis("Horizontal");
    3.     float v = Input.GetAxis("Vertical");
    4.     Vector3 moveDir = new Vector3(x,0,y);
    5.     if(moveDir.sqrMagnitude > 1){ // if pressing multiple directions
    6.         moveDir.Normalize();
    7.     }
    8.     //Do movement stuff
    9. }
    Hope this helps. :)
    Nice work so far, keep it up.

    I have debugged the velocity, but i could not find the effect, that the velocity increases when pressing both axis.

    Code (JavaScript):
    1. if(Input.GetAxis("Horizontal") || Input.GetAxis("Vertical")) {
    2.         rigidbody.velocity.x = Input.GetAxis("Vertical") * playerConf.speedVertical;
    3.         rigidbody.velocity.z = -Input.GetAxis("Horizontal") * playerConf.speedHorizontal;
    4.     }
    Maybe you could take a look at the code.

    Thanks.
