Modo to Unity blendshapes?

    Is there any system currently in existence which will allow me to use modo to create blendshapes for use in Unity?

    I use MegaFiers for doing morphing and that allows you import OBJ files to build up morphing/blendshape targets, you can also make use of its exporters for Blender, Maya or Max by exporting from Modo in collada format and import into one of those packages and then export all the morphs and animation in one go, the video below shows how Daz blendshapes are got into Unity via MegaFiers via the process above, it will work just as well for Modo -> Collada -> Blender etc

    MikeUpchat, we just purchased Megafiers and seems to work fine. But we exported with morpher on the full body. Can Unity do body mesh (with animations) then the head with skinning AND morphs?

    Yes you can have Unity animate the body and still have a skinned head with morphs working on the head as well.

    A better question that might get you somewhere is whether whatever they call morphs in Modo can be exported and used as blendshapes in Blender. I think that's unlikely but if you export MoDo work as FBXes inclusive of the morphs then the MegaFiers Asset should handle it and maybe even Unity's new blendshape feature can since it is in essense handling FBXes and morphs. You'll have to try and let us know.

    Has anyone figured out how to use the unity blend shapes function with Modo?

    This is definitely Modo's issue. Unity just takes in whatever blend shape data is in the .fbx file, but Modo doesn't properly write to .fbx. They re-wrote the .fbx exporter in 701 sp2, but it's still not functional.
