    Hello everybody,

    we would like to introduce our strategy game Mech Marines.

    The goal of the game is to build up your island with unique buildings. Defend it at all cost. Use your Mech Marines to protect yourself and to destroy the enemy. Upgrade and equip them with various weapons. Work out the perfect strategy.
    The game is characterized by fast gameplay and many strategetic possibilities.

    Mech Marines was inspired by the old SNES game Metal Marines (1993) by Namco Bandai Games.

    Hello everybody,

    today we would like to present you some new buildings of the game.



    The Anti Air Missile
    Is used to defend against enemy missiles

    Mech Marines - 3 new buildings

    Hello everybody :rolleyes:,

    here is the next set of some buildings in Mech Marines.



    The Base
    It is the most important building in the game. You have got only 3 bases. If they are destroyed, you will lose the game.

    The MG Turret
    Is used to defend against enemy Mech Marines

    Increases the energy you will earn

    At the moment we work on the "ICBM" building. We hope that we can present it on the next weekend :).

    Mech Marines - the ICBM


    Hello Community,

    here it is. The special weapon in Mech Marines. If you can´t break the air defence of your enemy, you should build this.
    Its expensive and you need many energy to use this weapon. But it pays :cool:.


    The ICBM
    Is used to destroy a huge area of the enemy isle

    This is the last of 12 main buildings in Mech Marines. All these builds shape a big tactical potential to defend your bases and destroy the enemy.
    We hope you enjoy this stuff.

    The next steps will be the inGame graphics and the Mapeditor.

    Man, the amount of nostalgia that just started flowing is borderline dangerous. I still have my copy of Metal Marines sitting around for when I decide to plug my SNES in again. This looks awesome.

    This game sure looks awesomer by the minute. I loved the original Metal Marines, so I can't see how I can't love this one. I will be following this one closely.

    Mech Marines - the new lasergun in a short test

    Metal marines was that video game that was always rented out at Hollywood video.. Or people stole it so they had like one in stock at it was always gone. Super fun game though.

    Hello dear community :rolleyes:,


    Last week we were busy with the missile attack and the anti-missile system. Because Mech Marines is a multiplayer game,
    we had to make some little changes from what you would expect from Metal Marines. For example, there are no scene changes (fade in/out) anymore.
    The video shows what an attack could look and feel like ;) The terrain looks a little empty because there are no trees and decorations yet.

    Next we had commenced to modelling some civil buildings you see here.

    This week we start to implement the missile system into the game. Also we will fill the maps with the new content and some trees, rocks and cacti :D.

    here are some news about Mech Marines.

    Last weeks we spent time to implement the new missile system in the game and optimize the gameplay.

    On the other hand we made a lot of new 3D models, focusing on the terrain and our internal map editor
    and have started with the level design.

    Here are the results:

    Yes, they remove our project from the public after two days, because we add a new perk. This is not allowed... We find it out, after the campain.
    And we are disappointed of Indigogo that they do this, without a message to us.

    But the show must go on. We don´t give up! :)

    there was a long time without news about Mech Marines.
    The reason is simple. We worked hard for the beta release, so there was not enough time to wrote some news.

    Now we start to bundle all the new features in Mech Marines here for you and will presenting you a overview of them.

    New missile attack and defense system
    • The difference between the old system (Metal Marines) and the new system (Mech Marines) is that all attacking missiles start at the same time in one round.
    • The missile building allows 2 missiles per battery now.
    • The anti-air missile building is loaded with 4 AA missiles per battery.
    • There are new powerful impact animations in the game.
    • The system is implemented in the multiplayer mode now.





    New mechs
    • In Mech Marines, the mechs can be upgraded 2 times. They get more powerful after each upgrade.
    • We added some new particle effects for the weapons
    • The attack area was cut off visually with a black border like in Metal Marines
    • The path finding system for the mechs was overhauled
    • The mechs are implemented in the multiplayer mode now




    Some GUI elements were changed
    • The GUI for the weapon selection was overhauled to allow a faster setup of mechs
    • The attack interface was adapted for the multiplayer mode
    • Some new options were added to the main GUI
    • A new lobby window was created for the multiplayer mode




    Multiplayer
    • Added a simple lobby, which lists games in your location
    • You are able tohost your own online game
    • Once a new room has been created and another player has joined the room, you will be able to chat with the other player. You will also be able to choose your map/island.
    • The hosting player is able to change some additional settings:
    1. Game speed
    2. Number of bases
    3. Money at the beginning of the game
    4. Energy at the beginning of the game
    Some of the options may not be available in the multiplayer beta release.







    Buildup system
    • The buildup animations for the buildings were changed:
    • More modern effects
    • Better performance
    The whole game is playable in multiplayer now
    • One of the hardest parts was how to design the multiplayer mode. We decided to use a peer to peer solution to avoid monthly server costs and because Mech Marines was intended to be a 1 vs 1 game in the first place.
    Maybe we will add a 2 vs 2 mode in the future. However, that would also have an impact on the gameplay. So, let´s wait until we have some feedback from the community ;)

    Two different islands were created for the beta
    • There are two new and small islands, intended for the placement of only one base.
    • This guarantees a lot of fun and helps newbies to learn the gameplay of Mech Marines





    The grid
    • We have tried to make the grid and placement of buildings finer but decided to undo this because of some impacts on the gameplay.
    Two new buildings are in the game now
    • Dummy base to fool your opponent
    • Disguise your buildings. This will change the appearance of a building to look like some palm trees (for the opponent).
    • The ICBM is not implemented in the beta








    What we need to do until the Beta release of Mech Marines:


    GUI programming:
    • Fix some bugs in the attack menu
    • Add a countdown timer to the mech attack (60 seconds)
    • Implement a “give up” function in the attack mode
    • Implement an abort function for the attacker
    • implement a in game chat
    • The scrolling function needs some fine tuning
    Soundprogramming:
    • New ambient sounds for attacks like alarm and so on...
    • Add new sound effects and music in general
    • Master the sounds
    Game:
    • Implement the anti-air defense against the dropship
    • Implement fog and shadows
    • Fix some bugs in the particle system
    • Add cloud shadow projections to the terrain
    • Performance check, FPS and graphic settings
    • Perform some tests on Linux / Port to Linux
    General Game Launcher:
    • For information, buddies and lobby and so on...

    Good evening, everyone!

    In the last few days we have finished the buildup animations and we have improved the revealing of buildings on the map.

    The aim was that the attacker is only able to see what he has discovered during the last attack. Changes between two attacks are only visible to the other player (who has made the changes).

    On the screenshots you can see the attack GUI and the new black boundary which separates the 6 by 6 units mech attack area from the rest of the island.

    I played the latest version of the game and I liked it so much. I've seen some desert screenshots that are pretty cool (with new marines and buildings). When will the new stuff be available in the demo?

    Hey Chemaxmax,

    we are very glad that you like the game. In the new version we have overhauled almost everything (in visual terms). We are currently performing a closed beta test in our team and with some friends in order to eliminate the most important bugs. After that we are going to start a public beta.

    The new version does not contain a singleplayer mode at the moment. However, you will be able to test the new multiplayer part :)

    It is difficult to give you an exact date, but we assume that it will be soon (maybe a few weeks).

    While the "Greenlight concept" still exists, we have also added Mech Marines as a game, so that you can actually vote whether or not Mech Marines will be available in the Steam Store!

    We have worked very hard to get this far and we are very thankful for every support we can get!
    After we got the Greenlight we are going to start an open beta (early access?) and you will have the opportunity toplay the game and take influence on the ongoing development.
