I don't know that, either. It's weird. In fact I think it is a very good thing that Unity is and wants to stay independant.

I don't have an opinion either way. I think the rumors started with the article about one of the Unity founders wanting to cash out.

Maybe they will include VAT in the prices so I don't need to calculate how much it really costs.

What? for end users its already included and for seller there is not much point seeing it cause of the wide range and for business VAT excludes

That would require a Unity Linux Editor. So not gonna happen.

I understood that he means a game console that you can also develop games on. Since Valve's consoles will run Linux you need a Linux editor to develop your games on them.

Oh alright, I don't know about the tax and stuff of wherever they are. They know were I am so if they could give me the price in AUD that it will actually cost, that would be great.

I'm not sure about large business accounting concepts/bookkeeping/etc but it could be that AUD is not one of their main currencies (USD, EUR, JPY) so they (can) only show and sell in USD for others and leave the conversion/exchange rate to payment processor.

My money is on Unity Pro becoming free with iOS Pro and Android Pro remaining paid add-ons.

    What's the spread on that?

Still, this has stopped me from buying loads of stuff, I only buy stuff I really need instead of buying stuff that might be kind of cool just because I'm not sure of the actual price.

No, you see the price in the seller's currency. The actual price in local currency isn't shown before the payment is processed that because it's constantly fluctuating. Quite often I don't know exactly what a purchase cost me until I see it on my bank statement.

Ah, okay ... that's a fair point. That is annoying indeed ;-)
