Unfortunately, I doubt it. Life continues to get in the way, right at LD events. And December is hard, too, what with XMas right near. I haven't gotten to really compete for quite a while now, and I really miss it.

Nah I participated once and almost broke the monitor in frustration. My doctor has advised me not to participate in very stress inducing activities. :(

    Meh.

I might just give it a whirl.

Although I think they should also do slow Jams that people can fit into their lunch break or after work.

Anyone from Belgium who wants to go to LD meetup in Paris? We could go together, not necessarily as a team (I’m a programmer by the way). I speak english fluently, my dutch is so-so, and my french is awful but I usually can understand it lol.

Send a PM or add me on skype if interested: melang1111

But if you look at the previous 4 rounds:

    LD30 Theme Voting – Round 1 of 5
    1.Connected Worlds
    2.Day And Night
    3.Break The Rules
    4.Do No Harm

    LD30 Theme Voting – Round 2 of 5
    1.Isolation
    2.Destroy The System
    3.You Are Already Dead
    4.Chaos
    5.Lost In Space

    LD30 Theme Voting – Round 3 of 5
    1.Don't Stop Moving
    2.Growing
    3.Choose A Path
    4.Another World

    LD30 Theme Voting – Round 4 of 5
1.You're Not Supposed To Be Here
    2.Fortress
    3.Artificial Intelligence
    4.Don't Save The Princess
    5.Wonderful Apocalypse

Then Connected Worlds, Day and Night and Don't Stop Moving look like the front runners.

Don't Stop Moving looks like a nice theme. I just hope Day and Night doesn't win because all I can imagine are a bunch of Minecraft/Horror/Zombie games being made.

    Did I just eff myself??
I switched to 4.6 and I have unity PRO trial enabled.
4.6 beta warns about webplayer only working on my computer???
May not be a good idea to use 4.6 then :(

True again. Guess I just figured web build would be more appropriate for LD.

Connected worlds is probably going to win. I think it's a tricky theme though. It's always a struggle to come up with a decent 48h idea with these themes.

PS Please tag your entries with Unity so we can find other games made with Unity in Ludum Dare.

There are going to be some entries using Unreal Engine 4 and I have asked that they tag their entries with UE4.

It will be interesting to see what solo developers can produce in 48 hours with both engines and small teams can produce in 72 hours.

    Good Luck.

Third time for me. Once in a team and this one will be second one in the 48h entry.
Last rounds' winner themes were a little uninspiring though.

Think of a theme like a game genre, the best games on a genre tend to play with them and mix them up a bit. Or think of it as the setting/background for a story. It's only the seed for your imagination to start from.

So, how did it go for you guys?

    Here's my 48h entry

The game's concept doesn't really come through in pictures.

The game was originally going to be a simple level based physics puzzler. It didn't feel right to waste the line of sight mechanic so it became more of a "platformer" with a gimmick instead.
My time management improved from last year. This time there wasn't much of a rush in the end. Actually managed to make some sounds too :)

Holy over 1500 entries already this time

Did a jam entry, using a skybox from the asset store and some of the music I found in the thread about free assets. Only spent a few hours doing it. I wanted to try to do something multiplayer but realized I would to rewrite it from scratch and that didn't seem appealing to me. I wanted to try with something more experimental like a planet to planet management game ( was channeling gods will be watching), where your playing a diplomat trying to ensure the the planets remain at peace -- but couldn't really think of a good way of doing that. So I just went with my first idea which turned out wasn't very good so I didn't spend much time on it.

PixelMind, I finally got around to trying yours today; it was fantastic, best one I've played so far. Very creative and polished :)

Can't wait to try everyone else's Unity entries.
