loading text document as level

How do you load a text document (without spaces between characters) that is over 200 characters long and 200 high into a 2d string?

 

just a suggestion to get the ball rolling, could have a look at this

think it works a bit like the c# or .NET streamreader class. not used it, but might be worth a read.
