Live Training UI Tools: Making a generic modal window - The window is not completely modal

Hello,

I watched this 3 parts series hoping to get a solution for my problem posted here http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/973234/block-button-click-from-propagating-to-empty-scree.html

The window is only modal afgaint other UI elements but not 3d game objects for example. When I click (or touch) on an empty space, the event is not blocked by the big grey panel.

Any solution for this?

There are several solutions to this, and these are independent of this project, but are more UI wide for all UI items, when it comes to the UI "eating" or using events.
