As you may know, Landscape Builder already includes a professional procedural terrain generator, an advanced night/day lighting system and a cut scene camera animator. You may not have heard we're developing a full Weather FX system which will eventually be included with LB.

    The in-built lighting system includes:
    • Day/Night Cycle
    • Sun, Moon, stars etc.
    • Fade Lighting in/out
    • Control Unity Fog
However, in the WeatherFX system we are adding:
    • Height-based Fog
    • Volumetric animated clouds
    • Rain and lightning
    • Runtime control of dynamic weather
    • Integration with LB Lighting and Camera Animator
    We're looking for:

The new WeatherFX system is now integrated with LB Lighting and includes the concept of Weather States. You can give them custom names so that you can easily see what should be happening. For example, you could have "Clear", "Cloudy", and "Stormy" states. LB will automatically transition between these states according to the simple rules you set up in the inspector.

You can also set the wind strength for each state so that they clouds are blown across the sky. The wind will also affect the rain direction. Cloud animation with wind can now can be seen in the Editor too.

Assets included in this sample scene include:
    • Landscape Builder
    • AQUAS v1.3 - for the flowing river
    • Turboscalpeur's HQ Photographic Textures Grass Pack
    • SilverTM's Nature Package for the trees and bushes

Now that you can add weather to your game or project with Landscape Builder, we're keen to hear about how you're using it. For example, you can configure a weather cycle and lighting in the editor and have it play out in a scene. Or maybe you are dynamically changing its behavior at runtime. Like, switching (in code) from one weather state to another when an event happens.

If we understand how your game works, we can provide the features you need to make your project a success. We encourage all LB owners to join our Beta Program so that we can provide you with the new features you've asked for in a timely manner (just message us your Unity invoice number).

    Hi,
I think you really should put more screen shots and more details about the weather system.
We all search for a good one, they do cost a lot, so getting it with LB is very very attractive!!!
I'm truly thinking of buying this system even though i have TC2 and Gaia....

You can find out more about the Weather System in the manual in the sections "Lighting - Weather Settings" and "Image FX".
