I just noticed this and thought I'd make a thread to let people here know.

Unity recently commented on the popular suggestion to integrate support for JetBrains' new Rider C# IDE and said they'd look at out of the box support once Rider is fully released. JetBrains also released a Unity plugin that adds support for the development builds in the meantime.

    That's awesome!
JetBrains have a really high standard for development tools, I use PhpStorm and PyCharm and both are great.

Agreed. I've used IntelliJ IDEA/Android Studio for android development and it is just as good if not better than Visual Studio. They make killer dev tools. I can't wait for this to hopefully be officially supported. It's going to completely cover my needs to develop for Unity under linux

Monodevelop can die in a fire

As I'm just starting in game dev and my project is pretty small I don't think MonoDevelop is *that* bad, but I sure miss some features of a full IDE.
Looking forward for this one! :D

Sadly enough, I've been using rider for quite sometime, and it is still heavy on Linux, and the backspace holdup is still not fixed, so it is pretty much not usable.

They said somewhere in a blog post that they will price it similarly to the other Jetbrains Toolbox tools, and since it is heavily based on Resharper I assume it will have a similar price, maybe a bit more expensive (since it is an IDE not a plugin only). The price is still being disclosed and we don't know if they will provide a free community version like IntelliJ or PyCharm.
