Import blender files to unity with v 5.4.0p1 Personal

Finally got unity running on Linux, I am very happy for that. Thanks a lot to the devs.

Now, I am using blender and unfortunately it doesn't work if I try to import my model into unity. It gives me the following error message:
"Blender could not convert the .blend file to FBX file.
You need to use Blender 2.45-2.49 or 2.58 and later versions for direct Blender import to work."

I am using version 2.76 on a ubuntu system. I suspect the problem really is that blender is not found by unity. I installed blender using the official ubuntu software repository.

It would be very useful for me to get this working, because it would save me a lot of time. I also included the blend file in case you wanted to try for yourself.

Workaround suggested in the thread: Perhaps you could export fbx manually in blender and importing them to Unity.
