    Hey everyone, we just created a Unity 3D games collection on Steam Greenlight to showcase great Unity titles to the Steam community.

    We want to show Unity is not just a great engine for mobile games, it can also be awesome for the PC and Mac market.

    So if you have a great game, and you are on Greenlight, please reply to this post and provide us the link to your Greenlight page to add to the collection :)

    Hi WildFactor! I think your game is great! (and the video too :D) but there's a problem :(
    We discovered that Steam crowds tend to freak out pretty quick when they see mobile devices featured in trailer videos of games, on Steam Greenlight :-|
    And for that reason, as stated in my message, we would like to show that Unity is also a great engine for PC/Mac oriented games :p
    Could you make a re-cut video not showing that sort of devices? :confused:

    @XeviaN360 Sad but true. There is some sort of phobia going on for mobile devices with PC Gamers.

    Depends. There's nothing wrong at all for Unity for PC. I've seen some great games on PC that have been developed with Unity.

    The problem in general is the fact that sometimes when applications are developed 'primarily' for a platform and then later ported to another. They're typically going to have a GUI design, controls, general orientation aimed at that platform. Look at most of the console games that have been ported from PS2/PS3/XBOX/XBOX360 and the vast majority of them will have a control system and game orientation for the original platform even if the game was ported to PC. You'll have a menu system that wasn't redesigned for PC, you'll often be lacking a lot of features that PC users are typically accustomed to. But those things wouldn't be required, or desired on a Console.

    The same thing happens with mobile games most often. You develop your game to give a good mobile feel, control system, mechanics all to pull the user into enjoying the game on that device (say Ipad) but your windows version unless you really get involved with the product and redesign it a bit for PC users won't really feel up to par.

    It's not that mobile games or console games on PC would be a bad thing, but unless developers go the extra mile and give the users of that platform what they expect to receive on 'their' platform in terms of what I've mentioned then the stigma will quite likely remain.

    Just imagine if someone started porting a ton of PC games to the IPad or a Android device without doing 'any' rework of their mechanics, or their GUI systems. You'd have a lot of users raging over the fact that nothing works as they expect it to from other products and some of the GUI may not even function correctly at all. This is in general for application development, not aimed at Unity itself.

    Hey guys, added all ! And now, UNLEASH HELL !

    Just make some noise on twitter with the tags #steamgreenlight and #unity3d and every online resource you have. We all need visibility.

    And cast your votes on Greenlight too ;)

    Cheers, XeviaN

    Hi Yorick2! Momonga is really a nice game!! :)
    You really should make a new video without any reference to iOS or the mobile world. Just read previous posts and some of the comments to your game on your Greenlight page -_-

    @jdelong: added!

    @NPlay: added!

    @DLGScript: Unity greenlight collection was created by us (Studio Evil) to show that Unity is a great game engine for making PC, Mac, Linux games also, and not for mobile platforms only.

    It'could be a good way to promote Unity games made by all of us, and the Unity engine itself, on the bigger pc/mac online store of the planet.

    If only someone (me, you, everyone, Unity itself) takes care of that and makes some noise on social networks and press...

    I removed my game from steam greenlight because I don't think this 99% troll crowd deserves to play my game. Voted up for all your games, guys, I truly hope there is better destiny waiting for your games. Good luck!

    How do you mean 99% troll crowd? I found the community to be generally supportive with their comments, although there always were a couple of trolls, simple just remove any troll comments.

    I was very polite and grateful replying on all comments on my page. But with time most of comments turned into pure hate. New and new people were coming and saying mean stuff starting from "why you want to be on steam if your game is already free? stop wasting our time" ending with all kind of very rude crap I will not quote here. Guys this game is my child in some way, it is not all that bad at all (I hope) and it is absolutely free for mac and pc. Where did all this hate came from? If you don't like the name of the game - give your options, your suggestions, come up with better name, please. If you don't like something about the game - just say it, tell me how to make it better. Give your constructive suggestion instead of crapping at my doorstep. Guys I'm not even a programmer, I was learning how to program along the way trying to find some free evening time after my full-time job doing this game alone (no team) and all I wanted is the help of community to become better game developer. This hope for help was in my comments and description for the game but ... I got mostly hate instead. Please, take a look at this game yourself, is it that bad? Honestly:

    I put my soul in it and I believe it does not deserve to be hated that much.

    Hmm? Is it soon? I have no idea how long it typically takes, but we took about 10 days to get to 50%. We got to 25% in less than 2 days. We had a lot of votes at the beginning but it's really dying down now. :(

    Hi guys, great games! We added all of them!

    So, TOMORROW will be THE day: Steam will approve at least 10 new games.

    It's time to make some noise:

    1) If you have not favorite THE COLLECTION, do it NOW :) Here's the short link: http://goo.gl/JN4Jm

    2) Tweet (using the shortlink) about the collection to @unity3d (and other PR account you could know). It would be awesome if they retweet.

    Keep up the good work,
    XeviaN
