Is there a free web domain service that would be suitable for putting web players on?

    I know this one: http://www.000webhost.com/

Haven't tried to put a unity game on it but it does work very well (considering it's free)

I highly recommend this site for a free host. Been using for over a year with no problems at all.

Never trust a webhost that says "unlimited" on their site:p

But yeah, I would suggest going after the paid ones too.

I've used them as well and had no issues. PHP, SQL and just about anything else you need with a decent amount of banner free space.

However they do have some code for gathering statistics automatically inserted into every page. If you plan on using php you will want to turn that off in their control panel, or you're in for an interesting time.

You can comfortably put the HTML file and the Unity file into the Public folder in a Dropbox account and share the link (perhaps with a URL shortener to make it pretty!)

    Works well.

...O-o Restatement of Never trust a FREE host that says unlimited. Hostgator.com has been around for a very long time and has a very large user base. All of their hosting has unlimited data and bandwidth.

I use www.webs.com for my personal site (http://andrewrgray.webs.com/, don't go there, my web design skills are worse than awful to the 1000th degree, if you go it will burn out your eyes), and it handles Unity games perfect (namely, SHMUP: Orbital Combat[/shamelessplug], here!)

I really recommend (as mentioned before) Dropbox. In my opinion, it is by far the quickest and easiest free way to upload web players and share them with others.

Oh no! I clicked the link before I finished reading!
Oh well, its not that bad...

I'm pretty sure if you use a program like Filezilla to upload you can get around the 8mb limit.

I did that and it works but not when I go to dropbox.com and open it directly from there. From there when I click the html file it doesn't load the game, just the page. It could be that I just didn't use the right webplayer export settings or something but I don't think so

I've used http://www.110mb.com/ before and its pretty awesome. 110mb of space per website.
Never used it for Unity before, but I would presume it would work.

You can have your game hosted for free on the dimeRocker Arcade. There's a 100MB limit per game at the moment. There are other features available too if you're interested in checking those out.

    Heya,

I use Dreamhost. Can anyone point me to a guide that explains how to deploy and setup a Unity3D web project on a dreamhost website? Treat me like I'm stupid, cause I'm a game developer, not a web guy. Is it as simple as dropping the unity package and a unity startup html file in a directory and pointing to the unity html file? That's what I took from one of the other posts...

    Gigiwoo.

I would just stick to the DropBox method. I use it all the time.

Another good thing is Kongregate. You can upload games to it and get paid in the process.

DropBox stores your data in a zip so you must download it first and then play the html files. No exe file in the world can be played if it is compressed ! compressed means lighter and missing binary data so decompressing is restructuring your data. Important..

Actually true, but sometimes it might look like it isn't. There are interfaces that make it look like you open the EXE file straight from within the ZIP without extracting it. What it does is it decompresses and caches it somewhere "hidden" (from the user) and deletes it after usage. This only works if the EXE doesn't require any other file contained in the ZIP or if the interface is smart enough to decompress everything in the cache.

It just bothered me a little how emphatic you were when you said "no exe file in the world". :p
