Everything disappears and turns grey in Play mode and need to restart

Hi all,

I've been having this strange issue off and on since I started Unity a few weeks back. Basically I'll be in Play mode having a good time and suddenly boom everything disappears and it's dark grey. I can still hear audio.

That could be manageable if I just had to stop and start Play mode again. However it actually persists, it's stuck dark grey when I try to play again. I have to restart the editor.

I noticed if I have the camera object highlighted in the scene, I can see the game through that tiny box and I can still play if I watch that camera preview box.

Is this a common thing? Is there a good workflow to avoid it?

If it is, it should be fixed in the latest patch.
