Directional blur Effect?

    For a 2d game, the floor is a simple line. ____________

    I wish to make a kind of downwards blur to give the effect that the floor is not totally empty.

    Please can you suggest different ways to make kinds of blurs, stalactites, and things that appear just to one side of an object.

    Generally you would use a texture for this sort of effect.

    Hiya, that's a super idea thanks. i thought that shaders were so powerful nowdays they could go beyond the boundaries of the vertices and things. texture would be a fair way of doing it.
