Best 3rd Party Tools for 2D

    I have returned to Unity 5 after having tried Corona SDK for some time. Unity's IDE is just too irresistible for a right-brained creative like me - and it's now 100% FREE!.
    I have been looking at Spriter for modular skeletal animation and would like to know what other must-have tools are needed for creating simple platform games, point and click adventures and interactive kids story books - that's the area i wish to work within.

    paint :D + something for animation (i have spriter too). I think, in new Unity 2d built-in tools will be something for skeletal animation. So in future paint+Unity will be enough at first for me."

    2D Lighting is on the list. So is 2D skeletal animation. Will be shared in the alpha build as soon as they work."
