Ascension X 2.5 D fighting game in development

    First my name is Chris Sanders and I've been currently designing a 2.5 D fighting game for the better part of two years. It is basically a mix of bloody roar, mortal kombat 9, and killer instinct with anime references. ( Ive been thinking about this game for over a decade) Id like to share my progress and get some advice, Primariyl solo, or I pay out of pocket for work.

    Are you not trying to mix too much ? What are essential never seen features of your fighting game ?

    well the game starts of with 3 types of characters, weapons masters, summoners, and aredians. the type of character determines their Ascension. During the game you have an Ascension meter that you can use to perform enhanced attacks, or save it and use it all to Ascend. I think our Ascension or changing characters in the middle of gameplay will be our defining feature.

    Nice.
    It is SSS shader ? the character looks good, still the forearm deformation looks weird, use clothes physics or make it not deformed and streight forward. You'll need clothes physics for the clothes tails.

    I have a custom toon style shader that we wil use for the final product. Also we are planning on using cloth dynamics

    Oddly - I can't see where the forarms are deforming, can you point out zenGarden? Are you talking about when she springs up from her back?
    I think the motions look well done. The arc's are solid. Really appears to be a fit martial artist.
    The movement into the anticipatory hold before she goes into the move seems a little linear.

    I like how there's just a little bounce in the animation when her butt hits the ground.

    Nice concept!
    How are you planning to morph the human character into the hybrid form, full body morph, particle and post fx, partial morphs on human and hybrid while covering the models with fx to swap human model for hidden hybrid model - poof! ;)

    sorry for the late response. but we have 3 type of transformations, transforming weapons, transforming bodies, or summoning servants.

    as far as gameplay is concerned. we have a particle effect that is basically a sphere that covers the model and will also blow the opponent back. right at that second we swap the assets. I would eventually like to have a morph in between.

    It's nice music, but it seems a bit happy? I would think a fighting game would be a bit less positive. :)

    I agree and we are darkening up a bit, but it's kind of hard to explain. The game will start off rather dark, but end on a positive note.

    It needs some particles, actually it is like some effect block without particles flying away on their own.
    BTW nice effect.

    well we are going for her power manifested. i actually have a monster head object hidden ( doesn't look right yet) they are been emitted from it. we want it to look like power in the shape of a dragons head.

    Remove the lights when the character hits the other with simple moves, this is very disturbing almost like some flickering lights and this looks weird effect on a combat game.

    Nice, but the character lacks some dynamic pieces of clothes, to bring more dynamic.

    yea i purchased a plugin to add dynamic cloth to my characters. we will be experimenting with it shortly. just trying to get my final look.

    ascensionx psion charging effect

    In order to cut down on spamming we ave added a special bar called your psion bar. this bar will control the amount of special moves you can perform. Once the bar is empty you can not use special attacks for the rest of the round. so you will need to charge your psion during the match.
