I've had my current laptop for three years and got some decent use out of it, but I think it's time for a new one. So far, the only criteria I've managed to come up with are a dedicated graphics card, at least 8GB of RAM and at least a four-core processor. Has anyone got any recommendations?

Any macbook pro or macbook air, even if running windows (we use them for windows a heck of a lot). Simply because as far as our experience is concerned, they're always really, really solid.

8 GB of RAM is good enough.
    4 CPU's is nice.
    Nice choice. :D

But in the case of the GPU AKA Graphics Card.
I would recommend a Laptop or other, with a Graphics Card, containing 1GB or 2GB or more of memory. :)
Just to be on the safe side. ;)

    As you know:
That RAM, in combination with the GPU memory, and good processors etc, always comes in handy.
If you plan on having, high poly/super high poly objects, or multiple objects in your scene etc.

Or, plan on making/sculpting, high poly objects, in a 3d modelling software like Blender, Softimage XSI,
Maya, Sculptris, Z brush, Mudbox etc.
To be baked to a lower poly object etc.

It's always good to think ahead. :)

Your ideal specs for a new Laptop are nice by the way. :)
